LGBT – Liberal Christianity – Fouled Mouth Bolz-Weber

2 Peter chapter 2 speaks of false teachers and false prophets. In reading the Washington Post’s article regarding Bolz-Weber, preaching around the country regarding the new wave of liberal Christianity, this is just another gospel as Paul said in Galatians 1:8 and repeats it in verse 9.

“If we or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed.”

Then Paul finishes it off by saying these powerful words.

“For do I now persuade men, or God? Or do I seek to please men? For if I still pleased men, I would not be a bondservant of Christ.”

That’s what “Progressive or Liberal Christianity seeks to do. Please men and displease God.

After all, the whole intent of the birth, life, death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus is to free man from the curse of sin and death, and to reconcile (exchange sin for righteousness) us to God in eternal life after we repent of sin.

In the Washington Post article, she said….”Forget what you’ve been told about the golden rule – God doesn’t love you more if you do good things, or if you believe certain things. God, she argues, offers you grace regardless of who you are or what you do.”

First, the golden rule is not about salvation. It is about how a person is to treat others the way they want to be treated.

Matthew 7:12 says, “Therefore, whatever you want men to do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets.”

Jesus never said, “This was the Law and the Prophets.”

Second, you could see that the mention of grace is a veiled expression intended to imply that God overlooks your sin. So come on in. I don’t hold it against you. In Colossians, Paul tells us that the “handwriting of ordinances that was set against and was contrary to us was nailed to the cross.” However, The Lord Jesus never said that we do not have to repent of sin.

Grace is not only unmerited favor but it is also the power to live free of sin. God works this grace when we obey His Word according to Matthew 7:21-23. So when you see the word “grace,” you are not given a free pass until you repent of sin.

Often, we say “God forgive me,” but we seldom say, “Lord. I repent.” When we repent, we receive forgiveness (see Proverbs 28:13 and 1 John 1:9).

Doing good things will not get you into the kindgom.

Repenting of sin, and receiving forgiveness by the grace of God, and obeying for the rest of your life what Jesus said will get you into the kingdom. Jesus shed His blood to redeem us from sin and hell. Then the Holy Spirit comes within us, destroys our old nature of sin and places within us a new nature called the Spirit of Christ.

If Bolz-Weber uses foul language, it is an indication that she was never changed by the power of God because new creatures in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17) never speak any more with the language of the world.

While the interviewer is pretty much driving the article, there seems to be a oneness about their objective. To paint God, and those that follow the Word of God as out of touch and distant. Which is what the devil loves to do. Progressive Christianity is always about painting the Bible as incorrect and a waste of time.

In the Post article, Bolz-Weber says she abhors “spirituality,” and the writer finishes her statement by saying….”She prefers a cranky, troublemaking and real God who at times of loss and pain doesn’t have the answers either.”

Well that describes the devil.

There are three attributes of God that transcends man and demons.

Omnipotent. Omniscient. Omnipresent.

Man will never understand the God of all creation but God understands all creation.

Jeremiah 32:17-19 (NKJVS)

“ Ah, Lord God! Behold, You have made the heavens and the earth by Your great power and outstretched arm. There is nothing too hard for You. You show lovingkindness to thousands, and repay the iniquity of the fathers into the bosom of their children after them—the Great, the Mighty God, whose name is the Lord of hosts. You are great in counsel and mighty in work, for your eyes are open to all the ways of the sons of men, to give everyone according to his ways and according to the fruit of his doings.”

If liberal, sinful, and worldly people that vainly follow Christ would read the Bible, they would come across Hebrews 4:15-16.

“For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.”

The Lord Jesus knows our pains and sufferings when it comes to temptation, sin, and life’s issues. And there is nothing too hard for Him. So in response to “…God who at times of loss and pain doesn’t have the answer either,” it is a clear error on their part based on Jeremiah 32:17-19. There is nothing too hard for Him.

What sinful, fallen man wants is for God to stoop to man’s level and allow man to do what it wants. Well doesn’t that sound like the Garden of Eden when Adam and Eve fell into sin?

You see, sin is about complete anarchy against God. Sin is about defiance of God and His Word. Sin is about a nature bent on destroying everything about God. When you see that people say that “religion” burned them or scarred them badly, we know that the system that man imposed is what is at issue. The other side of the view about religion is that the Word was preached about their sinful lifestyle that they instinctively were convicted of sin by the Word and the Holy Spirit and called it religion.

Instead of taking responsibility for the sin of thought, actions, and words, they blame the Word of God for bringing the necessary conviction so that one could repent of sin. Liberal religion is never about accountability and responsibility. It is about satisfying their lustful desires without being told that it is sin. Liberal religion is to blame which is a lie of the devil that liberal people wholeheartedly accept as a way to defy God, while blaming God, while attempting to worship God.

The Lord said in Matthew 11:28-29, “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon Me and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”

John, the apostle that laid on the bosom of Jesus said this in 1 John 5:3, “For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome.”

This is the yoke that The Lord was talking about. Not the yoke of bondage to a system but a yoke of bondage to Jesus that is light, easy, and not burdensome. The willingness to obey the command not to sin against God.

Commands are necessary for it is in the Garden that the command came. God wants willing people to love Him. We show that we love Him when we keep His commands. We show that we hate Him when we do not. Liberalism is the scourge and curse of the world because it thumbs its nose at the One that loves us enough to tell us that we are wrong. God is perfect, we are not.

Religion never had man’s best interest in mind, but The Lord did from day one. And The Lord demonstrated His love by sending His Only Son to die for the sins of the world. Not so that we could continue in sin, but to be free of it. Therefore, if you are willing to follow liberal movements that strive to take you away from the true and living God, just know that in the end, what matters most is whether your name is written in the Lamb’s Book of Life because you repented of sin, received forgiveness, and were born again by the Holy Spirit. That you never want to sin against God again and that you can no longer defy God and His Word.

True Christianity follows the very footsteps of Jesus.

1 John 3:1-3 (NKJVS)

“Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! Therefore the world does not know us, because it did not know Him. Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is. And everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just as He is pure.”
