The Sexual Control Of Jesus

Are you having difficulty controlling your erection in the morning and at night? Ladies, are you having difficulty controlling where your hands go?

This is real.

Every child of God, whether married, separated, divorced, or single, have endured these moments and there are moments where they cannot control themselves.

Sexual failure doesn’t have to happen because we do not have to yield to our urges and impulses for physical intimacy.

We can control ourselves because we have the fruit of the Spirit called “self control” (see Galatians 5:22).

Paul disciplined his flesh according to 1 Corinthians 9:25-27.

Jesus enters the house of Mary and Martha and has a conversation with two women in the house. Plenty of temptation here.

Weary from His journey, Jesus stops by Jacob’s well in Samaria to have a conversation with a woman that had 6 men.

After confronting the men about a woman’s adultery, Jesus is left alone with her.

A woman sheds tears on the feet of Jesus and uses her hair to wipe away her tears.

A woman opens an alabaster box and pours expensive oil on the body of Jesus.

In Luke 11:27 a woman shouted at the Lord Jesus. “And it happened, as He spoke these things, that a certain woman from the crowd raised her voice and said to Him, “Blessed is the womb that bore You, and the breasts which nursed You!” But He said, “More than that, blessed are those who hear the word of God and keep it!”

For 40 days, the Lord Jesus was tempted in the wilderness. Knowing the devil, he left no stone unturned. If you think that the devil pulled any punches, you are dead wrong.

Hebrews 4:14-16 says, “Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.”

The writer of Hebrews declares that Jesus was tempted “in all points.”

The New Living Translation says this…

“This High Priest of ours understands our weaknesses, for he faced all of the same testings we do, yet he did not sin.”

And that’s the control that the Lord Jesus had over His sexual organ.

Jesus was the Son of Man. He lived in flesh just like we are living in our flesh. If you believe that Jesus was never tempted to act on an erection, you are dead wrong.

He knew what to do when tempted. Whether He was with women or alone at night when an erection is about to take place. He knew how to control Himself and not touch Himself sexually.

How did Jesus do it? How did Jesus maintained His control over His body?

Hebrews 5:8 gives us the answer. “…though He was a Son, yet He learned obedience by the things which He suffered.”

Obedience to the Word of God is the key to success over the flesh.

Another reason for the success of the Lord Jesus was listening to the Holy Spirit.

Many of us believed that the only reason that the Holy Spirit was upon the Lord Jesus was for miracles and casting out devils.

Many of us missed that after the Lord was baptized, the Holy Spirit came upon Jesus. Then the Holy Spirit drove or led Him into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil.

During the temptation of Jesus, the only weapon that was allowed was the Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God. Jesus couldn’t run from this testing because what He was doing was proving out the Word of God in learning obedience.

That’s what makes having the Spirit of Christ in us so important.

The work and the effort for Jesus to stay holy gives us the advantage over the devil. That if we employ the same obedience by the grace of God, listening to the Holy Spirit, and flee sexual immorality, we stand a good chance of walking in victory every time.

Listen to Paul’s revelation by the Holy Spirit in Romans 8:9-10

“But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His. And if Christ is in you, the body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.“

Every time we sin against God, it brings into question whether we are His or not.

The other way that Jesus combated the moment of truth when an erection was about to occur is His prayer life.

Notice what Jesus said in Matthew 26:41 “Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.”

The Lord Jesus gave away His secret to His sexual discipline.

It’s what we do or do not do when the urge to touch ourselves sexually to masturbate comes.

When we look at Jesus, He knows how to obey and pray. Therefore, He understands our weakness. The Lord Jesus sympathizes with every groan we breathe.

We, too, must do the same.

“Come boldly to the throne of grace that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in the time of need.”

That time of need is the evil day when we are tempted to touch ourselves sexually. It is then that the Holy Spirit comes and gives us help when we need it the most.

Notice these words of Paul in 1 Corinthians 10:12-13.

“Therefore let him who thinks he stands take heed lest he fall. No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.”

Paul said these words in 2 Corinthians 12:9-10.

“And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ’s sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong.”

Psalm 119:9-11 says “How can a young man cleanse his way? By taking heed according to Your word. With my whole heart I have sought You; Oh, let me not wander from Your commandments! Your word I have hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against You.”

If you take more time to hide the Word in your heart, if you take more time to take heed according to His Word, if you seek Him with your whole heart. if you refuse to wander from His commandments, you stand an excellent chance to overcome when you are tempted to be sexually aroused.

Finally, notice what the Lord Jesus said. “Watch and pray…”

If you fail to watch and pray, the devil is watching to make you his prey.

Stopping watching sex laced movies, commercials, Internet, and other portals where you expose yourself to the temptations of the world. Things that you see during the day will be stored in your mind, to be used by the devil to remind you to arouse your flesh.

Just as the Word of God is a seed and can produce, the devil uses words and pictures to plant seeds to be produced later according to James 1:14-15.

“But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed. Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full- grown, brings forth death.”

You have enough of the Word in this blog to employ in your life.

Just as Jesus overcame, you can too.
