It was a calm Tuesday morning. In NYC, the polls were open. Voting was in full swing. My wife took my daughter to school on the upper east side of Harlem. I just got back from running and voting. I went to bed and then I decided to turn on the TV. On the screen was the North Tower with a gapping hole at an angle.
Smoke was ascending and blowing to the south, south west.
I went to the roof and wondered what was really going on.
First, the air traffic pattern for that area flies right over the apartment building we were in. Since my dad was the landlord at the time, I had access to the roof. I quickly went to the roof for a better sight. I said to myself this must be a serious error of judgment from the pilot. Several planes flew over the house from the south, on final approach to LaGuardia.
I went back to my apartment to get my camera because this was a significant event. After retrieving my camera to take photos, I thought that perhaps, the pilot had equipment trouble but with clear skies, VFR (Visual Flying Rules) were in effect. However, on approach, there is a certain pattern that requires a few turns to get “in line” for your final, but never from the north unless you are flying at a certain altitude.
Such an alternate pattern would take you back towards Coney Island north to south, circle around to the east, and then north again, and then the final to LaGuardia.
I was never an Air Traffic Controller in the Navy, but as an Operations Specialist, vectoring military helicopters was part of my MOS.
Then out of the corner of my eye, I observed a dark plane flying from the south, flying at a very high rate of speed, sloping into the south tower.
Sound travels at eleven hundred feet per second and I was roughly three miles or more from lower Manhattan. In three or five seconds, I heard and felt the explosion as the plane slammed violently into the tower.
At that moment, I said to myself, “This is no accident. This is an attack.”
I went back down stairs and my wife just got home.
We watched in horror what was happening.
Then the south tower collapsed. Then a while later, the north tower collapsed.
I said to my wife, let’s get our daughter.
The smell was incredibly toxic. For weeks, this smell of death permeated the area. It was a solemn reminder that death could happen at any moment.
We drove to the Triboro Bridge (renamed Robert F. Kennedy), parked the car on the Queens side. I asked my wife to stay with the car as I walked over the bridge to Harlem. Sheryl was not there because she had left with a friend over the Triboro Bridge on the opposite side. I came back to the car and Sheryl was with my wife.
At that moment, it was God that made that happen because I didn’t want her to take the train. Underground is too complicated when a city is under attack. It’s the last place you want to go unless you have no other options.
Reunited with my family, I felt obligated to go back into military service but I would have to get waivers for my age. My wife and daughter cried because the way I saw it, the only way to get back at who did this was to go over there and kill them.
The attacks were too close to home.
Years later, it would have been the wrong decision to go.
Almost 3000 people were wiped off the face of the earth. You want revenge and you want to do it in a way where there is no mistake about it. Having served in the greatest Navy the world has ever seen, I know that we would be able to deliver the goods.
I found out later that like the children of Israel, when you sin as a nation, the boarders are wide open for judgment.
That’s right. JUDGMENT!!!!
The symbols of power of this nation were attacked.
Financial and military.
Note Psalm 33:10-16 “The Lord brings the counsel of the nations to nothing;
He makes the plans of the peoples of no effect.
The counsel of the Lord stands forever,
The plans of His heart to all generations.
Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord,
The people He has chosen as His own inheritance.
The Lord looks from heaven;
He sees all the sons of men.
From the place of His dwelling He looks
On all the inhabitants of the earth;
He fashions their hearts individually;
He considers all their works.
No king is saved by the multitude of an army;
A mighty man is not delivered by great strength.”
When a nation and the people of God in this nation deliberately defies God and turn its back on Him, we have no protection. Under all the intelligence operations apparatuses, under the radar of our military might, under the watchful eyes of our satellites, we were reduced, mocked, and made a laughing stock.
People from the mountain regions, that lived in the valleys visited America to do harm.
Much like the children of Israel. Invincibility is never a guarantee when God is not found among the people of God. We must also remember that America, or any other nation, for that matter, is not Israel, nor are Americans true believers unless they repent and make Jesus Lord, and be born again.
To humiliate this nation, God sends a weak group of people to terrorize a mighty nation.
That’s right. God sent them.
Look at the many small and large nations that the Lord sent to judge Israel because they deliberately disobeyed Him.
This nation is not to be blamed alone.
The sleeping giant, called the church. Christians. Believers of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Any believers that live in sin opens the doors of judgment.
Even today, the people in the church, the Body of Christ is Samson, tied between the posts with our eyes gouged out as the Philistines make sport of us.
Peter said these words, “For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God? And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear?”
What about this nation?
Study the OT, and you will see that every nation that never repented were severely judged. Some nations never recovered and ceased to exist.
The United States has experienced the grace of God for 238 years. This graced is about to come to a close.
We must remember that these are the end times.
Sadly, many people want the good times to return. However, as Jesus said in Matthew 24, “Because of lawlessness, the love of many will grow cold.”
We are seeing this unfold before our very eyes.
The major sins of this nation is covetousness or greed, the sin of homosexuality, and abortion.
As long as we kill innocent children and insist on the sin of homosexuality, adultery, fornication, bisexuality, bestiality or zoophilia, porn, masturbation and all other sins, this nation must come to a close.
Repentance spares people from what is to come.
Hell for all eternity.
Many people do not believe that this is going to come to an end. That life will go on.
Do not fool yourself.
Hebrews 9:27 says, “And as it is appointed unto men once to die, after this the judgment.”
If death is true, judgment is true.
Those that died that day on 9/11 was judgment on this nation for its pride and arrogance.
Many will say that I am very cold for saying this.
Luke 13 is your answer.
Was Jesus cold in saying that “Unless you repent, you shall all likewise perish?”
The very Jesus that sinners want believers of Jesus to become.
This Jesus, who is God is warning every one of us to repent or we will perish in the same manner. Out of all those that died on that fateful day, we pray that some of them were true believers and made it into heaven. In Matthew’s account of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Lord said, “Many are on the road leading to destruction.”
On the streets as I am preaching, many pass by me and never pay attention to the warning to be saved, to repent and be born again.
Noah, not the movie, a preacher of righteousness, according to Peter’s general epistle, preached to the people about the coming judgment. No one listened and they all perished. Sodom and Gomorrah. Same thing. No one repented. God rescued Lot, his wife, and two daughters. Lot’s wife looked back and became a pillar of salt.
Such is the case today.
Many of God’s people have already looked back and became a pillar of salt.
As we preach, many ignore the call to repent.
A sure sign of one thing.
At every Yankee game during the seventh inning stretch, they would play and sing “God Bless America.”
With beer in their hands, they would sing.
With sin in our lives, we would sing.
With unrepentant hearts, we would sing.
God Bless America, when we kill babies.
God Bless America as the Congress sung on the Capital steps on the night of 9/11. The same ones that legislate immorality.
God Bless America when we perform SSM.
God Bless America without God in our schools.
God Bless America with attacks on preachers regarding free speech.
God Bless America when preachers watch porn and masturbates.
God Bless America when church vixens dress provocatively to trip up a pastor.
God Bless America when a pastor infects women with HIV/AIDS, or sexually takes advantage of emotionally unstable women in church.
God Bless America when Jezebel and Delilah walk through the doors.
God Bless America when homosexuals play and sing gospel.
God Bless America when pastors take over churches on the rogue.
God Bless America when child Sunday School workers are child molesters.
God Bless America when Preachers of LA, Preacher’s Daughters, Ex Wives of Preachers, Sunday Best uncover what is really going on in the house of worship.
God Bless America when churches are having orgies as they are worshipping sex.
God Bless America when we are covetous in goods, rich in wealth and not rich towards God.
God Bless America when good is evil and evil is good.
God Bless America when LGBTQ churches open up all across the land.
The hypocrisy in the church is reflected in the fabric of America.
There is still a remnant that refuse to live in sin. There is a remnant that is serious about living right before God in holiness. There is a remnant that is preaching the gospel and living what they are preaching. There is a remnant that is praying and seeking the face of God. There is a remnant that tells the devil forever no, and told God forever yes.
