Great article by Rick Warren of Saddleback Church on “How To Have A Fresh Start After Committing Sexual Sin”…..except…..as always, the majority of these articles never bring up the reason for watching pornography.
Masturbation is the Most Unholy Place.
It is The Taboo of Taboo.
Like you have in the temple in the OT patterned after the temple in heaven.
The holy place and then the Most Holy Place
Porn is the unholy place and masturbation is the Most Unholy Place.
Very few address masturbation for a number of reasons. And it is usually because the author and other authors, based on preponderance, MIGHT have been involved.
It is PROBABLE that they are still involved with masturbation.
I could be wrong because I don’t know everything as God does.
It is embarrassing but when you really want to come clean, transparency in this area prevents God from exposing this secret.
Hebrews 4:13 “And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account.”
So, when I talk about my involvement with porn and masturbation, humbly, I remove the exposing power of God from His hands. I take away His opportunity to tell everyone what I did in secret. God has no story to tell.
When it comes to sexual immorality, this is Psalm 90:8.
Masturbation is the high place that most men and women refuse to destroy.
And they can’t destroy it on their own. It takes the redemptive power of God and the help of others that have either maintained their walk before God, who never fell, or were once involved in masturbation that broke free and maintained their freedom for more than 3 years, and for the rest of their lives.
If you read the books of 1 and 2 Kings, and Chronicles, whenever reform was made, very few would destroy the high place. The reason behind it was that it would be reserved for the exclusive worship of God. Then after the reform ended, they resumed to business as usual.
While Rick Warren’s article has very meaningful steps to address the issue of SECRET SEXUAL SINS, the very thing that keeps a person returning to the high place of masturbation is “no fear of God before their eyes” (see Romans 3:18).
Thank God that the grace of God is there for us when we repent, but what is missing is that when we resume a habit, cycle, or pattern that is not condoned in Scripture, there is no question that what is absent is the “fear of the Lord.”
Ecclesiastes 8:11-13 “Because the sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil. Though a sinner does evil a hundred times, and his days are prolonged, yet I surely know that it will be well with those who fear God, who fear before Him. But it will not be well with the wicked; nor will he prolong his days, which are as a shadow, because he does not fear before God.”
We are afraid when we see flashing lights behind us when we are caught speeding or caught with a traffic violation. We are afraid when we lie in court because of perjury and its penalty. We are afraid when we do some crime and the police officer arrests us.
But why is it that we are not afraid when we sin against the Lord?
God gives us space to repent based on His graciousness to reconsider what we are doing and make things right with God.
If we fail to conclude that sex was designed by God between one male and one female in holy matrimony, and that sex outside of this sacred institution is a violation, then it is very easy to take what we’ve declared as God being silent and give ourselves permission.
The Bible is silent on permission and prohibition of masturbation, but because sex is designed by God to be shared between one man and one woman in marriage to become one flesh, the clear conclusion is that masturbation is a sin.
You cannot become one flesh with solo sex.
Your conscience testifies that it is a sin because every person senses in their heart that what they’ve done in secret pierced the heart.
Romans 2:14-16 says “…for when Gentiles, who do not have the law, by nature do the things in the law, these, although not having the law, are a law to themselves, who show the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and between themselves their thoughts accusing or else excusing them) in the day when God will judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ, according to my gospel.”
Did you get this?
“God will judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ…”
Tie that with Psalm 90:8 and you have no where to hide, and no reasoning to justify the continuation of masturbation.
So even if you do not have anything written on paper, you show the works of the law written in your hearts, your conscience also bearing witness, and between yourselves your thoughts accusing or else excusing you.
Further proof is when you are looking for a way to continue in masturbation. Just like atheists proves the existence of God, the fact that you’ve asked that this is a sin or not is proof that it is a sin. You are looking for a way to sin just like Adam and Eve. Abiding by God’s established order of sex in marriage between one male and one female ends the reasoning to sin and the argument.
I’ll keep saying it.
NO ONE WATCHES PORN AND DOESN’T ACT OUT SEXUALLY IN ADULTERY, FORNICATION, BISEXUALITY, HOMOSEXUALITY, AND MASTURBATION.
So if we want to please the Lord as Jesus did according to what He said in John 8:29, like Enoch in Hebrews 11:5-6, and like what Paul said in Romans 8:8, that they that are in the flesh cannot please God. So how can we please God? By walking in the Spirit, living by the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus.
Therefore masturbation is a work of the flesh that disqualifies us from pleasing God in the Spirit.
So to stop the revolving door of masturbation, Rick Warren’s article outlines critical steps, BUT to permanently stop masturbation, the fear of the Lord must be evident.
An accountability partner brings that fear especially when they ask you if you’ve watched porn and masturbated. This is also another thing that is missing in his article.
You cannot watch yourself.
YOU call the shots and make the rules when you declare self accountability.
Many preachers that end up committing adultery hate having the heat on them in personal accountability. It’s right at the point, which is a few weeks after the excitement dies down, that they want to be released from accountability. Their masturbation habits, patterns, and cycles according to Romans 13:11-14 is still “fresh in their flesh.”
The inner discipline was never established to begin with and they are back to touching themselves sexually. They haven’t learned, over time, the disciplines required to forever abstain from masturbation, so it is easy to resume very early after adultery.
That’s why it’s a secret.
Masturbation is the MOST UNHOLY PLACE that men and women do not want to destroy.
As David Wilkerson once said, you have to break covenant with sin.
This stronghold must be dismantled and then removed for good. Then the inner discipline must be established to forever forsake it according to Proverbs 28:13.
So, once again, great article by Rick Warren, however, it is time to be for real about pulling the covers off on what men and women do secretly and expose it according Ephesians 5:8-14.
Otherwise, SECRET SEXUAL SINS will continue.
The Rick Warren article could be read here.
Recently, we have seen a massive attack against a disease that entered the Body of Christ by way of video. Wayne T. Jackson was caught on video consecrating two men by laying on their buttocks. From the vantage point of the video, it appeared that on the first man, he laid partially on his buttocks. However, on the second man, he laid completely over him.
The Body of Christ is infected with the AIDS virus. The sin of homosexuality obviously brought about the AIDS virus. It was once called “Gay Man’s Disease.”
This piece isn’t about rehearsing what we already know but about uncovering a serious recovery program underway in the Body of Christ. A regiment that indicates that the Body of Christ is still fighting a disease.
The disease of false doctrine.
As with AIDS, it is a severe compromise of the immune system where certain common and uncommon diseases could kill a person because its defenses are compromised.
The White Blood Cells’ job is to defend the body against both infectious disease and foreign materials. As long as the white blood cells does its job, the body can survive. White Blood Cells swarm to overwhelm intruders. So at this point, Wayne T. Jackson feels like he is being overwhelmed with people speaking against his unScriptural act.
It’s the White Blood Cells doing its job to attack and kill the disease of false doctrine and the foreign matter of pride and arrogance that reveals elitism, entitlement, empowerment, and expediency.
As with most diseases, some learn to adapt to the medicine and the immune system. They mutate to overcome the power of white blood cells. They figure out a way to fight death so that they can cause death.
That’s when defending an indefensible position warrants irrational actions, such as shutting down or preventing any comments, questions, and preventing YouTube recordings of the incident. This is also called suppressing the evidence or tampering with the evidence. Obstruction of justice.
When the body cannot fight a disease, death is inevitable. So it is with the Body of Christ. If there is no way to fight false doctrine, death is inevitable. Now, you and I know that God will not walk in a dead church. That’s why he takes that which is dead, cut it off, and keeps what’s alive.
But the way this incident is being handled, underscores the disease of false doctrine mutating.
The question to be asked is…Why is Wayne T Jackson fighting against this?
Money and reputation.
You see, if this were about being right in the sight of God and be doctrinally correct, loss of money and reputation would be no object. However, when you are before people and you intentionally and deliberately do everything in your power to cover, conceal, run and hide, what is there to run and hide from?
The easy way out is to repent and declare that you’ve missed it. The hard way out is to defend an indefensible position.
A mutation is underway to undermine the exposing power of God according to Luke 12:2. Pulling the tape is a way to fight death. A serious attempt to suppress the video is underway. As with any incriminating evidence, if too many people see what we’ve observed, it brings to question the validity of their ministry, and the sincerity of their hearts. No one wants to be exposed but when the Lord sees that the Vine is about to be infected, the diseased branch gotta go (see John 15:1-8).
The diseased branch must be removed and sent to the fire to be burned.
A healthy tree produces healthy fruit. A healthy branch produces healthy fruit. The Vinedresser is not going to let the Vine become infected. That is not going to happen.
The response from this video has been overwhelmingly negative for Wayne T. Jackson. I am against any deviation from the Scriptures. There is no Biblical precedence for this ungodly act.
Hundreds of his followers defended his actions.
From using Scriptures like Psalm 105:15, “Do no touch My anointed ones, and do my prophets no harm,” to Elisha raising a widow woman’s son from the dead by laying on the boy (face up- not face down; see 2 Kings 4:32-35). And also Paul laying on a man that fell asleep on Paul while Paul was preaching (see Acts 20:9-10). Folks, this is called “elasticity of the Scriptures.”
In other words, a stretch of the spiritual imagination. This is directly resulting from three things that is evident in Word of Faith (WOF) circles and other camps. 1. Emotional Manipulation. 2. Intellectual Manipulation, and 3. Revelatory Manipulation. It’s one thing to be loyal to a man or woman of God, but it’s another thing to be loyal to God. Loyalty to God and His Word must be paramount no matter what.
Because God and His Word is final authority.
As many of us stated, we just want Scriptural precedence. Avoiding the issue instead of answering the question is a coward’s way of handling the situation. Cowards will have their day in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone (see Revelation 21:8). I have no heaven or hell to put people in, but the Lord does. For those that do not know the Lord. For leaders, it’s a different ballgame. When you mislead people, you are leading them to follow you and not the Lord. Jesus confronted this with the Sanhedrin and gave His last message in a leadership meeting in Matthew 23. He called them all hypocrites. The worst sin of leaders is that of a hypocrite.
Read well Matthew 23 and Ezekiel chapters 8, 9, and 34.
Leaders are held to a higher standard according to James 3:1.
The Scriptures gives us the only safe haven to operate. Where there is a lack of solid Biblical precedence that cannot be refuted, this is where a person could safely operate. When you do not see something in Scripture, it is clearly not to be done. Silence is not permission.
As I have stated my last blog, liturgical precedence never supersedes Biblical precedence.
This is what we’ve been saying all along.
There are many professed believers that will fight for a man of God but will never fight for the rightly divided word of truth. They will run like madness to the aid of a pastor, bishop, elder, apostle, and so forth. However, when it comes to the Word of God, many will not defend the truth.
Many of these professed believers have already cast us into hell for talking about the mand of Gawd. Folks, I wish with the same emotion and loyalty you would live for Jesus instead of bringing sin in the house of worship with you. Can you raise your hand and know that it is clean of fornication, adultery, homosexuality, bisexuality, porn, masturbation, and lesbianism? So quick to defend a demonic ritual but you run when it is time to confront Secret and Open Sexual Sins.
This hypocrisy is all in the church and those that defend pastors and what they do is only a fact that the world is quick to point out.
White Blood Cells are at work in the Body of Christ, spiritually speaking. The swarm of people preaching the truth about this matter is just what the Lord ordered. Even though this video was taken in August of 2012, the Lord is about healing the body. First, the diagnosis must be accepted. That means that people have to stop being in denial about the facts.
The video speaks for itself. We know that people are out to protect what they’ve accomplished. Impact TV and anyone connected. Jakes, Prince, Meyers, Osteen, Hilliard, and Dollar. We have yet to see any of these people weigh in on this and chances are they won’t. This club of clubs is going to ignore it and let the storm pass because the money and fame is too much to jeopardize.
But know that the White Blood Cells are at work.
We may be able to protect things for a little while but the disease of false doctrine cannot escape the White Blood Cells.
By the way, people are not the White Blood Cells. Allow me the liberty of using this analogy to identify the White Blood Cells as The Word of Truth. The truth of the Word also cleanses according to Ephesians 5:26-27. In John 15:3, Jesus said to His disciples, “You are clean through the Word I have spoken to you.
Psalm 119:9 says “How shall a young man cleanse his way? By taking heed according to Your Word.”
This is a good thing. It shows that the Body of Christ is engaged and will not let people who attempt to pervert the Scriptures for their own personal uses get away with it. As I have said in my FB comments, the enemy is in the church, not before us. We are overrun with the enemy and for years, we have been praying for “danger close” missions, where the bombs are sent over the places of friendly forces to save lives. Yes, people will die, but lives will be saved.
For so long, the church has been in denial because of leadership looking the other way and not addressing the issues of our day without compromise.
Perhaps, this sign of life, the White Blood Cells could be the very thing needed to repel the enemy from within the house of God.
Lurking in the waters of this election year are the sharks of perversion. What’s at stake is not just the presidential election. It appears the house will remain in Republican hands and the Senate appears to remain the same, under Democratic control. What does this mean?
Anticipate more gridlock no matter which way the presidential election goes.
Hypothetically, if the Governor Romney wins the White House, will they turn the clock back on DADT? Will good order and discipline return and discharge practicing homosexuals? I do not expect this to happen. Will he enforce DOMA? The jury is out on this as well.
The issues of the economy is at the forefront but we cannot escape the moral issues of our times. Should President Obama get a second term, there is no question that in the first two years of his second term, more legislative enactments to further entrench immorality in this nation will proceed.
There is no question that the church is in a compromised position. With sexual immorality running unabated in the lives of church leaders and people, the United States is closer to achieving its goal of silencing the church. The power of politics is fearful of the righteous moral stand of believers. But there must be a solid voice or voices that must unequivocally declare what is sin.
We do have a voice or voices that shared their concerns about marriage between one man and one woman.
All across the United States, pastors, bishops, and other members of the clergy have stood their ground to advocate marriage and to stand against the revision of marriage between two males and two females. Some have used the Bible and it’s specified verses, and some have not.
When there is just a statement of fact about the precedence of marriage as ordained by God, the Bible must be quoted. Do not misunderstand me. Some have used the Bible and the standard must continued be shared.
But just in case some of you that are preachers have forgotten, here is a quick refresher course.
The Bible is the infallible Word of God. The Bible is incapable of error and mistakes as far as the context is concerned. The Bible is man’s basic instruction while living on earth. There is no other source equivalent to the Word of God.
It is in the Word of God that we understand God. It is in the Word of God that we understand God’s creation of man in His divine image. It is in the Word of God that we understand the fall of man and God’s love for man to demonstrate His love by sending His Son to die for the sins of man. It is in the Word of God that we understand that evil comes from the devil and that the devil hates God and everything He is.
It is in the Word of God that we understand that because of the fall of man, fallen man is now an expression of evil. It is in the Word of God that we understand man’s need to be saved from sin. It is in the Word of God that we understand why perversion is expressed in fallen man.
Without making these kinds of statements from the Word of God, we will fail at pointing man back to God because it is not enough to advocate marriage between one man and one woman. We must use the Bible to point out that when man wants to have sex with another man, it is perversion. We must use the Bible to point out that when a woman wants to have sex with another woman, it is perversion.
God called it “an abomination.”
We must not forget that adultery, fornication, pornography (children and adult), masturbation, pedophilia, and bisexuality are all attached to perversion. These sins go under the radar and we must reckon with the fact that all these sins are destructive to the true family nucleus as originally intended by God. Anything that counters husband, wife, and children born in wedlock, is a clear and present danger to the family structure. The deliberate, intentional act of sexual sins is a clear and present danger to society and pastors must address these issues from a Biblical perspective as well as by living as holy examples before the church and the world.
We cannot expect people to abstain from fornication if we are committing adultery with our eyes, hearts, minds, and bodies.
Just because people fail the standard, it doesn’t mean that the standard has failed. We must live by what we preach or not preach at all.
What does this have to do with the election?
There was once a moral conscience in some politicians. Just like in the world and sadly, in the church, there is crooked people, but it’s the power of the gospel of Jesus Christ that brings fear in the hearts of people, regardless of their background. The political system is no longer as fearful of men and women of God that lived and preached the Word of God.
In many political circles, pastors are found eating their dainties and drinking their wine (see Proverbs 23:1-3). I’ve read almost article after article and in one of them, in Charisma magazine, I read of preachers going to meet with these politicians. And when they emerge, there was no real vehemence of the sins that roar across their communities. They have a press conference afterwards or are interviewed and these preachers say things that make you wonder what really went on in their meeting.
“Oh, he (the politician) isn’t that bad a guy.”
“We disagree on some issues, but we had a nice meeting about the issues we agree most on.”
When there is an assignment from God, the gravity of the assignment is what must be at the forefront. When you are given an opportunity to deliver what “Thus says the Lord,” or even if there is no direct Word from God to deliver, if you have an opportunity to sit with a politician, and the Word of God within you starts to burn, it is clear that you might want not to eat and drink their dainties.
What will happen after these elections is this.
God will be opening up the hearts of politicians to hear from the clergy like never before. It is in these times and places that unprecedented access will be given. You preachers will be given a specific Word from the Lord. Others of you will receive a Word from the Lord at the moment you walk through their places where you will meet them. Some of you will waver. Others will not.
It will not be a moment where you will curse them or be mean to them. You are just a mouth piece by which the truth of the counsel of the Lord will come through.
In a nut shell, politicians are lobbied by LGBT and other groups. Politicians are lobbied by groups of people that hold the “purse strings” of political agendas. But the Lord will speak to them in an unprecedented manner. The outcome of many lives is at stake. The lives affected by the decisions made by politicians is firmly before the Lord. Preachers must not flinch when given the opportunity. Just like Joseph was sent to save the nation of Israel, preachers will be given the same opportunity to affect change and perhaps, save whole communities from the destructive policies of lobby groups that have the ear of politicians by way of money.
Should these politicians fail to give unprecedented access to meet with preachers, their fate is sealed. Should the preachers that receive the invitation of unprecedented access fail to fulfill their assignment, their fate is sealed. We must also remember that certain preachers were given access and delivered the Word of the Lord but they were ignored, passed over, or isolated.
You must also remember not to be upset if the candidate you voted for didn’t get elected. It is common for people to get upset when they see the political landscape remain the same. But know this. Man cannot vote God off the throne. Man did not vote Jesus as Lord, and they cannot vote Him out of His Lordship. You can’t vote Jesus in and you cannot vote Jesus out. He remains Lord regardless of what happens in politics.
Always look to the Lord to keep you, and look not to the arm of flesh (see Jeremiah 17:5-10 and Psalm 33).
Charisma wrote a good article about the affects of porn which could be read here…
In the article, there were many good points but the point that many of these kinds of articles leave out, perhaps, intentionally, is the habit of masturbation.
Masturbation is pretend sex.
Depending on the urges and impulses of the human, and the preference of porn, whether same sex or opposite sex, there is no way possible to extricate porn from masturbation.
Granted, a man could masturbate without porn but we all know that porn heightens the mood to act out sexually. It’s called “mental stimuli.” The mind wants it’s sexual time too. The soul is always looking for pleasure and the further it looks into that satisfaction, the more depraved a person becomes. Except within the boundaries of two loving, caring, opposite sexed married persons.
Got to qualify these things these days.
Remember Proverbs 27:20?
“Hell and destruction are never full, so the eyes of a man are never satisfied.”
As a note, a known former porn producer said that the last frontier of porn is children.
In one instance, a man sexually assaulted a toddler.
Depravity knows no boundaries or limits. When you say that you would never cross a line, in reality, that’s a statement of preparatory intent.
There are many that will argue about masturbation. And it ranges from “nothing said in the Bible.” to “Boy’s will be boys.”
Biblical inferences would be shot down in a heartbeat.
But what are the three things common with all masturbation?
3. Thoughts- images self generated or film (still or motion) produced.
Remember when Jesus said….
“If your right eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and cast it from you…if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and cast it from you?”
Then the Lord Jesus said this in Matthew 15:19…
“For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts….
The Amplified Bible says….
“For out of the heart come evil thoughts (reasonings and disputings and designs) such as murder, adultery, sexual vice…”
So out of the dark heart of man comes the thoughts to carry out sin. It is transferred to the mind and the body acts out what is thought of.
Without hands, there are numerous ways to achieve orgasm, but sex, according to Genesis 2:24, is to be shared with an opposite partner that you are married to.
The reason why I am mentioning this is that we all know the ill affects of porn but when we do not zero in on what happens when men or women watch porn, we are just circling the covered wagons and never actually make an assault on the problem.
I will not take the time to talk about all of the reasons why masturbation is against the “one flesh” principle in Genesis 2:24. I thoroughly covered the subject in many previously written blogs and on BlogTalkRadio.com/prevailingword1.
Sexual addiction rituals predominantly end in orgasm. That’s the goal, right?
To finish what you started.
Now God created sex and sex is pleasurable. It’s the only activity that give pleasure with a serious face. But seriously. People are in bondage or enslaved to the urges and impulses of the flesh and mind.
And if we do not get into that place of utilizing as Dr. Mark Laaser puts is so powerfully, act out sexually in healthy meaningful ways, we run the risk of entrenching ourselves and never get the quality help to break sexual addiction cycles.
When you cannot control, manage, or stop sex, you might be addicted.
These three elements indicate that you are not permitting your urges and impulses to gain control over your life. In other words, you know what these urges and impulses look like and you recognize what you need to do to reduce it’s potency and power so that you are not driven by it.
Can you do without sex?
This is a very powerful question because if you cannot do without it, the disciplining process will never kick in.
Sex, as well as anything made on this planet is a servant. There is only One Lord God.
When you serve sex, you dethrone God. Additionally, you are also worshipping or at the very least, using the members of your body as an instrument to fulfill sexual needs. But what else are you doing? You may be hurting inside and you are using masturbation to heal deep seated wounds in the soul that only God, through His Word could heal. Masturbation and the process of euphoric sex sometimes is used as “medicinal properties” like being in a “Pharmaceutical.”
Yes, a person could become chemically addicted to the releasing of internal chemicals to the blood stream.
Perhaps, you are looking to reward yourself with sex for a job well done?
These needs are connected to how you are emotionally. When you cannot control your emotions, sometime you go down the path to fill the holes of love, self worth, value, esteem, and other emotions that is a part of your make up.
But all these are clear indications that you are out of fellowship with God and His Word.
Self intimacy issues reveal a lack of being intimate with God.
The late Dr. Ed Cole, the progenitor of the modern day Christian Men’s Network said,
“Prayer produces intimacy with God.”
All intimacy issues stem from one place. A lack of fellowship with God. No matter how many times you look at it, all you need to do is go to one place where man is lacking.
True fellowship with God.
To strive against sin with blood, as Hebrews 12:4 says, means that you didn’t pluck your right eye out, you didn’t cut your right hand off. Figuratively speaking of course. You didn’t do something radical enough to get you to stop. That’s what Jesus meant and that’s what must be done if you are going to break free of masturbation.
Whenever we look for common excuses to masturbate, you are not serious enough about pleasing the Lord in every way.
So my point today, is simple. If we are going to break an enslaving habit, talking about the ill affects of porn is not enough. We need to go deeper. We need to uncover what we do in secret, delve into some reasons that lead us to the source as to why we masturbate, and then look to apply the remedy of the Scriptures to finally break free.
Otherwise, talking about porn is basically a mute point.
I was never in combat situation while I was in the Navy. However, while I was on the USS Savannah AOR4, in 1983, we were ordered on a contingency operation to Beruit, Lebanon in support of Marines on the beach for peacekeeping purposes. Washington tasked us to deliver whatever supplies we had left by Commander, 6th Fleet to the amphibious forces. For the first time, I saw and participated in combat operations but from sea. We anchored just off the coast and delivered our dry goods and other supplies. Then we received orders to transit out the next day to proceed on duties assigned.
However, just before we transited, we heard shooting and bombings. The pounding from both sides were incredible. This was my only brush with observing combat while serving my country. We got word after we departed the area that the fighting turned towards the peacekeepers and the ships anchored at sea. The task force commander ordered all US vessels to aweigh anchor and get their ships out of range. Just a few months later, 241 marines, sailors, and other military personnel were killed in a car bomb.
The reason why I shared this story is because in many battles, brushes with death can and will occur. When you are sent to fight, death is imminent. The sad thing is that it’s one thing to be shot at by the enemy. But when you get shot at by friendly fire, it’s another thing.
Sometimes these incidents occur because of miscommunication. Wrong coordinates. Malfunction of weapons systems. Human error or all of the above. However, there is also intentional firing upon another person by a person that claims to be on the same side. Much of that is happening in Afghanistan.
When there is a clear objective, the intent is to pull your resources together and deal with the objective. In spiritual battle, at times, there will be dissenters. People who, for whatever reason, decide no longer to fight against sin, when they fire off at the preacher, it is a clear indication that rebellion is before you.
Pastors and preachers are expending enormous amounts of energy fighting against the world and their insistence of infiltrating sexual immorality in the church. The church is over run and the enemy is inside the camp at will. At the same time we are fighting against “well intentioned” believers that insist on living their lives of Secret Sexual Sins, and when their sins are exposed they are blasting away at pastors.
Pastors are shooting at the devil and then have to turn around and shoot at rogue preachers and believers.
The devil has us in a crossfire.
The world has season tickets to the great joke on earth.
Ringling Brothers can’t top the show in the church. The ratings are off the charts and they are laughing at some of us with disdain.
It is a shame when people that called themselves preachers are sympathetic towards sin. Here you have two persons in an interview and you can’t discern the difference. You expect a stand, a solid stand on the Word of God and you expect a solid stand on sexual immorality. The position of sin was clear but the rebuttal was….inept, at best.
Preachers must state their position and back it up with Scripture. Not with politically safe rhetoric that cause one to scratch their head in bewilderment. God never minced words. He said what He meant and that’s what we need in this hour. Preachers with backbone. Preachers that will not wear collars and apologize for being a messenger of God.
The fear of God must return to the preacher in order for the fear of God to return to the church. Otherwise, our impotent performance is another charade.
When a believer becomes sympathetic of sin, that’s when they have turned into a pillar of salt. There they stand, callous, cold, and unresponsive.
God is against all sin.
If you cannot agree with this objective of hating all sin, you are an enemy of God.
If you practice sin, you hate God. If you practice righteousness, you hate the devil.
You can’t do both.
Sometimes people that claim to know Jesus forget that Jesus was sent to the earth to die for the sins of the whole world. God hates sin and He condemned sin in the flesh of Jesus.
So if God hates sin, and you claim to know God, it’s a no brainer.
You too must hate sin.
So when you love sin, you hate God.
And don’t you dare say that you love God but you love sin too.
It’s a contradiction.
Then when it comes to leaders expressing that other leaders should support the president in same sex unions, I STRONGLY CONDEMN AND REBUKE THAT!
Leviticus 18:22 is the grounds for issuing the rebuke.
I will stand on the authority of the Word of God and rebuke what people say that is against the Word of God and those that choose the side of sin.
If you cannot come up with Scripture to support God permitting you to commit sin, do not tell preachers to stop preaching against sin.
And when a person insists on committing sin and we rebuke them, it is for the purpose of getting their attention to repent.
If a person genuinely repents, we forgive them, pray for them, and admonish, and help them to live for Jesus.
Do we continue to rebuke them? NO!
Unless they rebuke you for rebuking them.
You want to help them stay from the curse of sin. You want to help them live clean lives for Jesus.
Pastors must be sensitive to the degree that abrasive, harsh words, and un-Scriptural action is not a part of their pastoral responsibility.
But when others insist in committing sin, when carnal Christians teach others that sin is permitted, when they turn on a preacher, and then blaspheme the name of the Lord, like Hymenaeus, Alexander, and Philetus, that’s when the rebuke is to be issued.
Where is Phinehas when you need him? Cozbi and Zimri, a leader of Israel walked right past God, the Tent of Moses, Moses, Aaron and Phinehas. While the plague was in full swing in the camp. Phinehas said, “Oh, no y’all don’t!”
He took a javelin and thrust them through.
It appears that they were in a compromising sexual position because all Phinehas needed was one thrust to kill them both and the plague ceased in the camp.
Zimri made it by God and Zimri thought he was safe. He thought that God permitted his sin. Zimri made it by the Tent of Meeting. Totally disregarded the worship place of God. It’s called desecration. Zimri made it past Moses and Aaron. Certainly, they approve. But Phinehas wasn’t having it.
The zeal of the Lord rose up within him and he took care of business.
By the way, Cozbi was a woman of Moab that was part of the Moabite leadership.
Which is consistent. Whenever leaders desire sin above God, you can be sure that their punishment will be worse. Hence, Al Sharpton and Jessie Jackson, and any other sinful preachers or pastors that fails to uphold the standard of the Word of God.
You can’t be sympathetic for sin and call yourself a preacher.
Paul said, “Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? God forbid!”
Many carnal believers want to have it both ways.
You cannot walk down both sides of the street at the same time.
You cannot live in two houses at the same time.
You cannot be a sinner and a saint at the same time.
You cannot live for God and live for the devil at the same time.
You cannot be good fruit and bad fruit at the same time.
You cannot speak righteousness and speak evil at the same time.
There are too many “believers” that claim to know God but when you bring the truth about the Word regarding sin, they can’t stand the truth.
And then they speak against you to try to condemn you.
All we preachers are doing is agreeing with what God said and repeating what God said.
In the name of Jesus, I rebuke you!
Paul said to Timothy about leaders, preachers that sin, “Those that sin, rebuke before all.”
Believers are shooting pastors and preachers that live the truth and preach the truth in love. If we didn’t love you, we would let you be judged and that would be the end of it.
We see the car that is about to hit you. It would be wrong for us not to warn you, wouldn’t it?
But before God brings judgment, we are tasked to warn you.
Sadly, people pull out their weapons that they are supposed to use against the devil and shoot the preacher that is living and telling the truth. These people do not realize that they are in a combat situation and they do not know who to fight, much less know how to fight.
People in the church are so confused that they sit too comfortably in church.
So comfortable that when you tell them to pray and fight, they roll over and look at you like you are mad crazy. We are in the fight for the church and the devil has us fighting and shooting at each other.
You fell for the devil’s trick to deflect responsibility and place the blame all on the preacher.
It’s the pastor’s fault.
It sure is if he or she is living in sin.
But woe to you if they are living what they are preaching and you are caught in sin.
Just be warned. Your day of exposure is coming.
Preachers are shooting against the enemy with the truth of the Word and then they have to shoot at their own people because the preacher has discerned that there are people that claim to know Jesus that turned against God, and they have become enemies of the cross of Christ.
This is expected.
Enemies of the cross.
Jesus met heavy resistance because He lived and preached the truth. The spiritual leadership of His day changed the commandment of God and replaced God’s Word with their traditions.
They were money grabbers and spiritually inept to help people get it right with God. The church is asleep and drunk with the world. It’s no wonder that the world is playing us against each other because they want to live in their world of sin. And they want to drag the whole church into sin so they can live comfortably without confrontation and conviction.
It is our job to confront sin in the house of God. If you do not want to hear about sin, stay away from the church. Don’t read our blogs. Just avoid everything that has to do with God and His Word. But we know that can’t be possible because the Holy Spirit lures you back to where truth can be found in God’s Word and you have to make a choice to receive truth in the inward parts or reject truth and be judged.
Some of you do not realize it that preacher must now turn up the intensity of the fire of the Scriptures because the world is trying to tell us what the Bible says. Sinners have no right telling the righteous what the Word says.
They are not in the kingdom until they are born again.
Carnal Christians do not have any right to tell a preacher that is living by every Word that proceeds out of the mouth of God what the Word says.
We are called to be an example in “in word, in conduct, in love, in faith, and in purity.”
It is out of being that example that gives us the right to rebuke people that is in sin. The worst thing in the world that carnal believers can do is live in such deception that when they are caught living in sin that they lose their minds and try to go up against the Word of the Lord that comes from the preacher whom God sent to straighten you out.
You try to get us to back off.
You do not realize that the Lord was speaking through that preacher and you use everything to curse, condemn, ridicule, slander, abuse, and berate a pastor that is living by the Word of God.
I command you to repent, in Jesus name, and command you to back off.
You do not know what you are getting yourself into. You got a right to say anything you want but we will, by the authority of the Head of the Church to rebuke you.
I was told that I could quote Scripture all day long but it doesn’t make me right.
I know that I am right just by this statement.
When a person says, that I could quote Scripture all day long but it doesn’t make me right, I was waiting for “because the Bible said……”
And that’s where you rebuke people because there is no excuse for sin.
And if we are to know where a person stands, it must be done by examining them through the Scriptures. So far, some misinformed people still do not know their Bibles and that is a travesty.
You expect believers to uphold the Word of God at all times but I find that people uphold the Word when it’s convenient.
I rebuke you in Jesus’ name for that!
Babes in Christ, that’s one thing. But people who claim to be in the faith has much left to be desired.
You can’t pick and choose when it’s convenient to follow the Word of God.
You must follow the Word at all times.
When it comes to rebuking our national leaders from every level of government, the reason why they get away with what they get away with is that pastors are not strongly condemning their actions. It’s a give in that the majority of the politicians will do it regardless of what pastors are charged to say, but they should know that pastors that supposed to have impeccable credentials and the highest credential…God’s ear, must never be lightly esteemed.
I do not think that this level of the fear of the Lord may return but God has a way of turning it around.
Pastors and preachers called by God do not work for politicians and it is abundantly certain that pastors and preachers do not work for people in the church.
Pastors and preachers have One Boss.
His name is Jesus.
He called us, and by His grace, He found us to be faithful to Him and His Word, and He placed us in the ministry.
The politicians and people in the church do not pay us. We work for the Head of the Church. Any pastor or preacher that fails to live according to the standards of God’s Word and teach others to do so must be strongly rebuked and their acts must be condemned.
When it comes to the president of the United States, do not let the office mesmerize you. Too often, pastors and preachers lose their bearing. God puts them in strategically to give them the Word of the Lord to these politicians and it is the responsibility of the preacher to uphold the standards of the Word of God at all times. They must never be allowed to intimidate a preacher.
We fear God not man.
When a preacher fears a man more than God, it is bad because your opportunity to minister the Word of Life must never be lost.
For the most part, why would a sitting president be in support of gay marriages? My first question, which I know I would never get an opportunity is to ask him if he is gay. It is rare that a person supports homosexual sin and not be homosexual themselves. Now we all know that there are many heterosexual couples that support gay marriages that is not homosexual but what is interesting is that there are many men that will admit to some bisexual activity.
In this day and age, we must never put it past people of the possibility of bisexuality unless there is conclusive evidence that they are not. Such questions must be asked so that we can have a clearer picture of the intent of our political leaders. Again, we are headed down a perilous path of judgment and if we do not get at the heart of the issues and deal with this and other spiritual issues, we will face what must be an inevitable series of consequential judgment upon the nation that will have implications until Jesus comes.
Friendly fire will continue to happen in the church. But it must come to a stop. Otherwise, the real enemy, the devil, will continue to ridicule us until Jesus comes.
As I have mentioned on FB, we are seeing a smoke in mirror situation. Why would the president come out and support gay marriage? He and those that are “steering” his presidency is avoiding the up coming issues that will face this nation. At this stage of the game, it looks like everything is mending but it’s not and we know it.
The economy is still in shambles. The Federal Reserve admits this. When you are looking for a job, your salary will not be able to pay for the basic necessities of life. Benefits are also cut. The price of the cost of living is no longer tenable. It is clear that something sinister is on the horizon.
That’s the price for thumbing your nose and turning your back on God.
The combination of immorality and the economy is a diseased umbilical cord and the death of a nation because of its refusal to repent is before this nation. When you have 3% of the American population crying out for marriage rights.
It’s the destruction of the economy stupid.
The gay issue is a big immorality issue but also what’s interesting is that the African American base is in shambles.
So in essence, it appears that the president is dependent upon a new minority.
The gay vote.
And with such a solid support from the gays, their 3% voting will trump the 12% African American vote. More like 10 or 11% with 1% or less of them gay African American.
But we all know that according to Proverbs 14:34, sin will never sustain a nation.
These are the end times.
Preachers that refuse to bring their congregations to the place of repentance for sin to seek the forgiveness of God are playing with men’s souls. And the price will be eternal retribution. Just as the Lord Himself came and rebuked the Sanhedrin in His day for not knowing the time of His visitation, so too, the church is oblivious to the seasons and times of our day.
We need to cry out before the Lord comes. Because when He does, no one will be spared.
It is time to get ready and stay ready. We do not know the day or the hour and we can ill afford to use Israel as the time piece to discern the Lord’s coming. When will He come? James tells us that the “Judge stands at the door.” We do not know when but now is not the time to walk away from the Lord.
Now is the time to get ready.
About 35 or 40 years ago, the church appeared to be moving in a very powerful direction.
Or so it seemed.
A shift took place when many denominational believers started abandoning the traditional churches for “WOF” or Word of Faith churches. Faith churches, as we would call them, were popping up all over the place.
Mind you that during the 70’s and 80’s, the economy wasn’t doing well either. Some of you will remember the long gas lines, high inflation, and low employment. The Cold War and other threats significantly heightened our anxiety levels. For some believers, the “rapture” seemed imminent.
All of a sudden, faith, other tongues, healing, and “positive thinking” according to “E. W. Kenyon” came out. At the same time, credit was a “blessing.” Greed is good even in the church. Many faith teachers came on the scene had overlapping messages. Sometimes you could close your eyes and it may be a different voice but the teaching was consistently the same.
Preachers that you never heard of were taking advantage of the simultaneous boom. Giving in these WOF churches and para-ministries increased. The preachers of today emerged and were living like the stars of Hollywood. Such extravagant living would make the apostle Paul drool.
Then, things appeared to stabilize and increase in the 1990’s. The United States economy was now showing a surplus and mega churches sprouted out of the ground faster than corn. The office of the pastor and teacher were the prominent offices. Praise and Worship was like heaven on earth.
It appeared that the church is in a “Third Wave.”
Then sexual immorality sprung up during the 90’s in the White House which almost cost the Presidency of William Jefferson Clinton. Reverend Jesse Jackson, President Clinton’s counselor during the Monica Lewinski scandal, had a “love child.” Reverend Lyons using hush money to conceal an affair and a “love child.”
In the 80’s it was Jim Bakker with a secretary. Jimmy Swaggart with a prostitute on more than one occasion. Even politicians were caught in sexual scandals such as Presidential candidates Gary Hart, and Jonathan Edwards had an affair and “love child” while his wife had terminal cancer.
As a foot note, Donna Rice, the woman in that famous “Monkey Business” photo with Gary Hart, is now married (not to Hart) and is President of Enough Is Enough which is an organization dealing with Internet Safety for children. This is true redemption. Donna Rice Hughes is getting back at the devil by heading an organization determined to blow the whistle on Internet sleaze designed to attack children.
During the Civil Rights era, according to sources, it is alleged that Dr. King was involved in adultery. “The King Tapes” that the FBI, under J. Edgar Hoover, a known homosexual, illegally had on Dr. King were ordered sealed by a judge until 2027. The wires for these tapes were placed in his hotel room because they thought that Dr. King had connections to communism.
It turns out that they (the FBI) may have gotten more than what they’ve bargained for.
According to one source, right up to the night of his “Mountain Top” speech, allegedly, he had committed adultery. If this is true, it is devastating. If it isn’t true then it was just another attempt to smear a man of God.
Dr. Ralph Abernathy, Dr. King’s very close friend, said that Dr. King “had a weakness for women.”
While I am aware that anything could be done to make tapes and voices, there is a claim of eyewitness accounts. I pray these are lies.
This is not about slinging dirt and mud on folks.
This is about revealing the darkness in places where light ought to be. Paul tells us in Ephesians 5:3 that, “fornication and all uncleanness or covetousness, let it not even be named among you…”
Homosexuality was real hidden, yet, out in the open in the church. James Cleveland and many other “gospel” singers, keyboard players, and “praise dancers” emerged as practicing homosexuals in the church. In my former home church, there were many practicing homosexuals playing for the church.
We didn’t understand it until HIV/AIDS became the disease most associated with homosexuality. No one ever thought that the unnatural act of same sex would be so disgusting. No other disease distinguishes homosexuality (see Romans chapter 1).
Fast forward to today, and you will see that the fast pace of sexual immorality in the world is in the church on the pandemic level.
When there is a moral decline of this sort in a nation, there is nothing left but to watch the nation be reduced to depravity unless the church repents, seeks the face of God, and rise up in this hour.
The USS Cole was attacked. Two US Embassies in Africa were hit by terrorist bombs. The World Trade Center was bombed. 9/11. Katrina and more natural disasters. The Great Depression of the 21st Century.
How much more could this unrepentant church and nation take?
These are the last days and it’s not over. More turmoil at the hands of unrepentant man are on the way. More natural disasters are coming.
The Lord is not sitting by and permitting things to happen because He hates man.
The Lord is only revealing these things to us to prepare us for the final hours of this world. We can no longer assume that things will be easy and that there would be a resumption of “peace and safety.”
With millions in the US unemployed, and now we are seeing Michigan about to limit further welfare benefits, it is about to get desperately drastic unless the church prays and then affect change in the communities.
Everyday that the church waits. Every day that the church sides in with the world. Every day that the church fails is a day that souls that could have been won to the Lord are now lost forever.
Is there a bright spot? Is there any hope?
But it all depends upon you, child of God. You must no longer debate what you need to do.
Stop reasoning with the Word of God and live the way Jesus lived! The Holy Spirit will give you grace to help in time of need.
Be holy for God is holy. Walk as children of light. The night is far spent. Put on light like a garment and make no provision for the flesh to fulfill its lusts. Glorify God in your body and your spirit which are God’s.
From here on, we must be prepared for persecution, pain, economic disasters, natural disasters, and other end time events.
The end times are not fun times.

In anticipation of the autopsy report of the late Dr. Zachary Tims, it is important that we focus on the fact that sometimes autopsies are inconclusive. Even after the toxicological tests returns, we may or may not know what really caused his death.
I am aware that the police through the media put out the “white powdery substance” found in his pocket. Most police patrol units and CSU (Crime Scene Units) have a kit to test for cocaine and heroin on the scene.
So we already know that the police may already know the actual substance. The million dollar question is that if the police already know what it is, did it enter his body and cause his death?
That’s what the toxicological tests may or may not conclude.
There’s always that possibility that it will be ruled a natural death.
Even if a certain “substance” is found on or near the decedent, any substance that is known to cause death may or may not be the true cause behind a person’s death.
What is so troubling is that no one seem to put the pieces together before his death.
No one traced the “needle trail.”
Or, perhaps, the trail was hidden so well that even if there were certain tell tale signs, we would ignore or intentionally suppress them. I find that when people do intentionally suppress the truth, they do it to cover a leader.
No one wants to uncover and disclose the truth of the trail because it would uncover another trail to places where certain people (high level, prominent, outspoken church leadership) do not want you to go.
What is the “needle trail?”
Again, it uncovers the dark side of the pulpit that we all know is going on.
Case in point.
According to Gay Christian Movement Watch (www.gcmwatch.com), COGIC Superintendent Joseph E. Hogan Jr. was recently selected to be Bishop over Central Georgia. He has a child out of wedlock and was arrested for being a deadbeat father.
In a separate incident, a well loved person in church leadership passed away. He was known in his church in the south to smoke, drink, and sleep with women. The pastor eulogized him as a person who did much good. “Let his good overshadow his bad.” Yet, he was divorced, had a child out of wedlock, and his girlfriends showed up at his home going service.
Sadly, pathetically, and hypocritically, we have no problem speaking well of people in ministerial leadership that are known to have committed Secret Sexual Sins at home goings but we have a problem not preaching about the true Biblical fact that fornicators, homosexuals (catamites), and adulterers will not inherit the kingdom of God.
Hear no evil. See no evil. Speak no evil.
Only hypocrites judge.
Only those that expose sin (because the truth need to be told), do so to warn the rest of the hearers and seers that this is what happens when sin is left unchecked and undiscovered in the hearts and minds of believers and powerful leadership.
And even babes in Christ and the laity that know their God and their Bible will never call sin a “train wreck” to covertly cover the sins of a fallen minister.
The secret is only a secret when few know about it or are told about it.
The power of a secret is safe where few know about it or the few that do know do not talk about it.
Collaborators and conspirators do not want the truth to come back to them because it will reveal a bigger picture that something sinister of epic proportions is too much for the church to bear.
So they fight so hard to speak the good over a leader while intentionally overlooking what is bad at the same time. It’s never commendable to cover sin. It makes such a cover, a cover up. Sin can never be covered. There is only one thing to do about sin that God agrees with. Sin can only be washed away by the blood of Jesus. Covering sin or speaking good over a sinful leader is the way of co-conspirators. Cover a leader’s sin and my sin will not be discovered.
The anointing on a person’s life or their persona has a way of hiding even obvious signs of trouble.
No one really seen Dr. Tims’ death coming even after the fact of death. Sometimes certain people will act a certain way that may be key behavioral factors that are not ordinary.
Sometimes this is not a good way to determine that something is wrong because it is a fact that people will snap on a moment’s notice and go crazy. Then we are left trying to figure out what happened that led to an unthinkable incident.
Again, for preachers in particular, the “persona” and the “anointing” can cover dark happenings in a person’s true character.
It’s called “Undercover Christian Brother.”
The story of a book is never read or understood on the cover.
The story is always found inside the book.
Speculation is a failed attempt to understand the true meaning of what took place or to get into the mind of the deceased. After all is said and done, we conclude that we will never get at the heart of the matter. Speculation, therefore, becomes “hit or miss.”
More miss than hit.
It’s very easy to blame the dead on a number of things.
Which is why we must always recognize the obvious signs of pastors that are not so obvious to believers and even close associates.
Bishop Jakes tapped into something that was very telling that Dr. Tims was “unhappy.”
Folks, as much as you want to believe that even when a pastor has a lot of people, it is not all peaches and cream. But just because a person or a pastor is unhappy, it doesn’t mean that we now understand all that is going on in an unhappy person.
Behind the scenes, there are many pastors that are unhappy with life and ministry.
This is not a reflection on Pastor Tims. I know this to be true in almost every pastor and it is a reflection of my own life and ministry.
Early in my ministry, I began to experience “the ministerial mountain top blues.”
You’ve preached the best messages and people receive. Then you go home or back to your hotel.
It is there that the mind sometimes goes crazy.
No matter how much Word a preacher has in him, there is always that moment when the devil or even your own mind retreats into a place of seclusion and second guess the message.
Or the message was received but it wasn’t good enough.
Or it was good enough but you are still looking for something.
That something we are all looking for is accomplishment, affirmation, and acceptance. No one wants to be rejected. Sadly, we male preachers, or males as a whole are afraid of rejection and failure. Behind all of our strength we are susceptible to these two vulnerabilities that drive us to commit sin to achieve apart from God.
There is also the ferocious intensity to minister in such a way that completely obscure our past moral failures, or current involvement in Secret Sexual Sins that there is no flow of the Holy Spirit. Just a forceful push that looks like an out of control freight train going downgrade heading towards a turnout (curve), with no brakes.
Instead of resting in the Lord, it’s fast paced preaching as if you are running from something or someone. In essence, you are running from God.
The majority of ministers of the gospel will never tell you that what drives them is their ability to perform before people. It is a “form of worship” that we are not permitted to have but some of us search for it anyway. Even after a scandal, there is that one thing called “performance” that drives us to give us a false awareness that we are truly successful.
Sexuality is the highest form of physical pleasure. The use of drugs has been known to heighten sexual experiences as part of heightening the false sense of escaping reality. Candidly, false intimacy and the aftermath of male or female orgasm gives a person seeking for some measure of success, a deceptive means of achieving accomplishment.
Because of “fulfilling the desires of the flesh and mind” and “the pleasures of this world,” it is very difficult for many to go “cold turkey” on self gratification, commonly called masturbation.
Victory over masturbation is achieved by employing “moment by moment” sanctification which is the same discipline used by Jesus in Hebrews 4:14-16.
It’s called the “Sexual Discipline of Jesus.”
Just because the Bible is silent about masturbation, it doesn’t mean that you have permission to engage in the practice. Silence is never permission.
We pastors refuse to admit that we masturbate nor do we even discuss the reasons why we masturbate because it is embarrassing. In our secret and hidden lives, this is what males and females do to relieve sexual tension when we are alone to fulfill the lusts of our flesh and mind. And as a secondary reason, to acquiring some measure of self worth, accomplishment, self love, acceptance, and affirmation.
We violate Scripture by measuring ourselves by ourselves. It’s part of pride and arrogance, and it always lead to elitism, entitlement, empowerment, and expediency.
Even when it is assumed that we are actually helping people, sometimes we pastors can be so full of ourselves (egomaniac) that we believe the hype about ourselves. Like Paul, we always need to judge ourselves and we need that “thorn in the flesh” so we would not go beyond the limits of our measure.
Even behind our praise of God in front of people, if we are not careful, we will try to steal God’s praise in broad daylight.
As Paul said, “Knowledge puffs up.”
And when the hurts and wounds of a pastor is mixed with our emotions, coupled with great pulpit performances, and a desire to be received or worshipped, we get into trouble. As I have said before, humbleness of mind and humility will keep us from places of humiliation.
This is where pastors must recognize that this is the moment to find God for you and not for others. It is the moment to find a close friend to share your heart with and lay what’s in your heart bare.
Coming down from the mountain is the most vulnerable moment in a preacher’s life because of the lack of complete satisfaction.
When you are constantly pouring out of your life and ministry, the expending and dispensing of the Word and the anointing out of your life is for the people. It is not for you. It is there that you seek to put something back to fill the void.
If you are not getting ministry for “you,” it is very easy to fall into the traps of loneliness.
After most Sundays, I look to channel surfing to preaching that will feed me and minister to me. I particularly look to Fred Brothers. His ministry really has been found to be the thing that I need from the Lord at precisely the right moment. As Fred Price said, not everyone can minister to you. And you will not receive from everybody.
That’s good preaching.
Hotels are very lonely places unless your family is with you.
According to www.XXXChurch.com, the average time spent on porn is 12 minutes.
For the single and divorced pastors, it is a very lonely world. For single and divorced pastors, to be isolated from family is another spot of vulnerability. Without loving family support, it makes ministry all the more troubling and dangerous.
Too many “options.” Too many “distractions.” Too many “opportunities.”
A couple of years ago, a friend of mine, Pastor Roger Jamison ran into Bishop Eugene Tanniehill. “The Bishop,” a former death row inmate, was released from Angola Prison and we went down to Louisiana to visit with the Bishop.
This was just after I was delivered from porn and masturbation. I was in a hotel room away from my associates.
I can’t tell you the number of times the flesh started to rise and the mind battles in that hotel room. But to fall back into Secret Sexual Sins of 13 years of porn, such a turn back from a great deliverance would be the greatest hypocrisy ever.
On the day that inmates were expecting visitation, there were many women that we waiting to get in. All these temptations surround a man every where. Preachers are not exempt.
But God was good. He kept me from turning on the television. He kept me from filing the “images” of the day in my mind to fuel the fire of “urges and impulses.” I knew what was waiting for me if I surfed the channels. I prayed, stayed in the Word, and called my wife regularly to ensure that I stay pure before God.
I’ve determined that loneliness is a “trigger mechanism” to commit Secret Sexual Sins.
If you fail to identify your trip wires and trigger mechanisms, you will never end the cycle of sexual addiction. You will continue the “ritual” and fulfill false intimacy or act out sexually to attain unattainable satisfaction. Seeking unattainable healing through false sexual satisfaction is never acquired or accomplished, but these drugs are released into the blood stream.
Testosterone, adrenaline, vasopressin, and dopamine.
I was acting as my own “pharmacist.”
When false intimacy by self sex takes place, the addict demands these chemicals, and it is what makes sexual addictions become “medicinal properties” to vainly attempt to heal deep seated wounds in the soul that only God could heal and make whole.
Males seek to masturbate because these feelings govern his refusal to approach God, to search after Him for true healing and intimacy. We want to do it ourselves for two reasons.
1. Sin’s pleasure.
2. Medicinal or pharmaceutical properties for self healing.
This is our disturbed way of autonomy.
That’s why self sex or masturbation leaves a bad feeling (violating the conscience) because you are violating the “one flesh” principle, thus, sinning against your own body, and against God. Sex in marriage between male and female is designed to be shared. Masturbation is selfishness.
When sex is done according to the “one flesh” principle, between husband and wife, these same chemicals produce positive effects of love and bonding to secure the marriage relationship. The conscience is clear.
Loneliness can only be satisfied in Jesus. Him alone!
Pastor Jamison shared this Scripture with me at our Come Clean Conference in 2009.
“A man who isolates himself seeks his own desire; he rages against all wise judgment.” Proverbs 18:1
The Amplified Bible says it this way,
“He who willfully separates and estranges himself [from God and man] seeks his own desire and pretext to break out against all wise and sound judgment.”
More pastors run into trouble when there isn’t a close person to talk to about the “ups” and “downs” of ministry.
The prideful pastors will always find a way to break out against all wise and sound judgment. We walk the streets or drive in our cars lusting for flesh. We go back and fulfill our fantasies through false intimacy.
Then, after having our fill of false sex, we look to take it to the next level. We look for another live body on the level one of sexual addiction.
Not realizing that deep inside, there is a longing for true intimacy with God.
I was watching “Faith Of Our Fathers” or “Fathers Of The Faith.” They had a panel of 5 or 6 “senior” pastors sharing their secrets of 40 plus years of ministry apiece.
One pastor lamented over the fact that he wished that early in his ministry that he had a close pastor friend to bounce ideas off or to just share in his personal struggles in his life and ministry.
A pastor could have many people, many friends, but few close friends that is able to speak into his or her life. More often than not, many pastors close the doors to such personal ministry because, for men, we tend to believe we could fix our own lives.
We also want to keep our personal sins personal so we could stay in ministry. We try to “heal our own wounds” in sin when the Savior is waiting to help us. Even pastors need Jesus.
We know what is wrong with us. Even though we may know what is wrong with us, we do not know how to fix ourselves. We think we do, but we fool ourselves into thinking that there is nothing wrong. We pretend all is well, yet, we cry silent tears within.
Inside the heart of most pastors are wounds. Self inflicted or sheep inflicted that never get attended to. We bleed while we preach. We bleed while we minister to others. We bleed while we laugh. We bleed while we sin. We bleed while people watch.
Our false intimacy becomes a place of failed attempts to stop the bleeding. We refuse to believe our own preaching and find the Healer through safe associations with other pastors. We can’t share, or we refuse to open up our hearts because we have this false understanding that we are all right.
We can’t let the people see and know how much we hurt.
Sin deceived us into thinking that sexual ritualistic activities is the only way to bring healing to ourselves.
No lie could be more deceptive than this.
How are you going to heal yourself by hurting yourself?
And then when it is detected that somebody can see our hurt, we refuse their prayers, their comfort, their counsel, their ministry to us. We run from the very thing that God sends to help us heal.
It’s like asking a heart surgeon to do heart surgery on himself, without anesthesia.
If you are a lonely pastor, it is time to furl the superman cape.
It is time to find a close friend to share your heart with. Life and ministry is not designed for the pastor that goes it alone. You’ve sat in that office crying to God for companionship. You’ve gone home looking for someone to help you understand the process of the “ministerial mountain top blues.” Only to fall into various Secret Sexual Sins or other common sins to heal a desperately lonely heart.
It takes courage to find a friend in Jesus that understands what you are going through.
Pick up the phone and call someone. Or when that friend calls to see how you are doing, do not do what I have done. Never return that call. Leave it on voice mail. Or worse. Cut them off forever.
Physician, it’s time to get healed.
