Matthew 5:27-30 (NKJV Strong’s)
“You have heard that it was said to those of old, You shall not commit adultery.’ But I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.
If your right eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and cast it from you; for it is more profitable for you that one of your members perish, than for your whole body to be cast into hell.
And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and cast it from you; for it is more profitable for you that one of your members perish, than for your whole body to be cast into hell.
Matthew 6:22-23 (NKJV Strong’s)
“The lamp of the body is the eye. If therefore your eye is good, your whole body will be full of light. But if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in you is darkness, how great is that darkness!“
James 1:14-15 (NKJV Strong’s)
“But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed. Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death.”
Romans 6:12-13 (NKJV Strong’s)
“Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body, that you should obey it in its lusts. And do not present your members as instruments of unrighteousness to sin, but present yourselves to God as being alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God.”
I want to start off with these Scriptures because it’s there that you will find that if I had exercised discretion, I wouldn’t have to explain this sin in my life.
In my book Secret Sexual Sins, in the intro part, I’ve shared my introduction to pornography. But I won’t get into that.
What I want to get into is the resurgence of porn.
I was already inflamed with sexual immorality with the imaginations of my heart and fulfilling them in self gratification, commonly called masturbation.
When lust controls you, the fruit of the Spirit called “self control” wasn’t matured in me. As a young teenager, everyone experiences puberty and when these sexual aspects become aroused in you, all you need is accelerants and the rest is history.
As a born again believer, with these hormones raging “youthful lusts” were well underway. I was shy and an introvert so approaching girls wasn’t my thing. I was able to bridal this until marriage.
But most boys do explore sexuality.
Fast forward to 1996. While watching Directv, I noticed channels that provided PPV. I vowed never to explore those channels. It worked for a season until 1996.
In 1994, we’ve restarted our work in the ministry. After serving under my pastor, it was time to resume my pursuit of planting a local church. In following my pastor, we would attend ministerial conferences. These conferences fed us information to solidify the ministry.
We would buy books and tapes. I came across a tape for music ministers.
So to help our team to be proficient in our praise and worship in our local church, I had passed a tape to our music minister. Our music minister promptly returned the tape to me. On my job, I had a way to watch videos and I wanted to watch the video again. It was that powerful.
But my music minister called me on my cell phone and warned me not to look at the video.
Instantly, my interest aroused because he never tipped me off to what happened. Evidently, he put the wrong tape in the sleeve. I removed the video and played it.
It was soft porn.
I won’t elaborate the difference between soft and hard core porn.
But it would be there that my Secret Sexual Sins would reemerge and be established.
From 1996 to 2008, I would be a regular visitor on Directv at home.
On the job, when laptops became affordable, I would engage in viewing pornography. So much so that finally it got to the point where it affected my wife and she noticed a significant change in our relationship.
What was I supposed to do?
First, I never should have looked at the tape. Second, I should have given it back to the music minister and ask him what was on it. Third, if he refused to inform me what was on the tape, to let him go (relieve him of his duties).
I didn’t do any of the above. I swept it under the rug.
The music minister never should have been blamed for MY DECISION to watch the tape.
Decisions Determines Destiny.
He can’t be blamed for the lusts that was in my heart. And even if he were in possession of porn, I would not have known if he had put the right tape in the right sleeve. It would have remained a secret.
And perhaps, it may have never been known.
But this is a major problem in the houses of worship that we sweep these things under the rug and God isn’t pleased. We hide what we do in secret and destroy our lives. We play church in the presence of God in hypocrisy.
One of the last major messages of the Lord Jesus before He was crucified was Matthew 23 where He preached on hypocrisy. It was a stinging message to spiritual leadership.
What we do in secret is what we offer before the Lord when we worship Him in service.
It would be one day in November 2008 that when my wife drove to go to the store. We were in a brand new house that the Lord gave us. It was a miracle that the Lord gave us.
As soon as she left, I turned on porn. Right there, the Lord spoke to me and said, “Is this how you treat Me after all the good I’ve done for you?”
It would be then that the Lord called me out.
As I was watching CNN before it became a bad network, there would be a pastor in Texas that was interviewed about his involvement in porn. He confessed his sin on international TV and I was compelled to tell my story.
Instead of the Lord exposing my sin, I put my sin out there during a Sunday morning service.
Without getting into details about who was involved and what was done, I passed out a newsletter to all of the men.
And I gave a copy to my music minister. The one that gave me the tape by accident.
A leader in my church was in the middle of adultery while he was a deacon. Sexual immorality was heavily ingrained in the house of worship.
But it wasn’t just a male thing. Women in other houses of worship were involved in other areas but not on the level of the men.
This area of sexual immorality is connected to abortion and when you start dealing with abortion, you’re addressing the sexual issues of women in how you consent to sex but also consent to the murder of a baby to cover the shame of the sin.
If you take away the man made legal but immoral by God, sin of abortion, you’re hitting the third rail.
Adultery and fornication is the fuel for abortion.
Women will cover their sexual sins just as men do.
When contraceptives aren’t used, whether by force or choice, should a woman choose to go full term, it’s a chance to entrap a man to monetarily support her.
This is all happening in SOME of our houses of worship.
So when we deal with porn, there’s a serious underworld in the houses of worship, that if we fail to address it, we’re a night club, and not the holy house of God that we’re supposed to be.
The Garden of Pleasure is where temptation and failure became the way of all man until we are born again by the Holy Spirit. And even after a person is born again, it doesn’t mean that temptation has ended. What it means is that the power to resist temptation is now in you. The fallen nature of man must die and we must be changed from within by the Holy Spirit.
The fallen nature’s desire to examine, pursuit, capture, and consume is what makes falling into sin from being tempted possible. Possible to fall into or possible to escape it.
The excitement of enticement. The tease. The desire to go deeper into someone or something. Every person is smitten with temptation.
However, we do not have to fall into temptation.
Temptation is not sin. To be tempted is just enticement or baiting. If you do not take the bait, you cannot sin.
It is when we cast off restraint and cross the line of discipline to not touch whatever, that we fall into sin.
James said count it all joy when you “fall into temptation.”
If your life wasn’t of value to discredit Jesus, you wouldn’t be tempted. There are some forms of temptation that are so blatant that if you are not careful, you will stop thinking about the cost and engage to sin.
Men are sight stimulated. What we see is what our mind locks on and we burn that image in our souls to consume it mentally until you have to touch it.
The full satisfaction is after you have touched what you’ve watched.
Proverbs 27:20 says,
“Hell and destruction are never full, so the eyes of man are never satisfied.”
Dangle something that a person likes and it won’t be long before the desire to consume it comes.
Low cleavage, body hugging above the knees dress. Hair up or down, preferably sexy down. You’ve seen it before and that is desirable to see all of the time. Now the desire to see it again and again is programed into your repetitive thinking process.
Unless she is your wife, you are already in pursuit in your mind to check it ALL out as she gets closer and closer. Your heart races and your mind goes into several transitions until mind and body ultimately transitions into “I must touch it. I must have it. I must consume it.”
We all know how this works but let’s examine it in relative detail.
All things have a point of origin or beginning point. When it comes to temptation of the sexual nature, we can only be tempted based on our desires. If there is no desire, there can be no reference point for preference. Whatever our desire is, that’s where our preference is, and that is the area where the enemy will tempt us (see Hebrews 12:1).
If something is repulsive to us, chances are, unless lines are crossed to escalate unexplored regions of sex acts to obtain the unobtainable carrot of sexual satisfaction, we will not engage.
Look at what the Bible says about temptation from the book of James chapter one and verses 14 and 15.
“But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed. Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full- grown, brings forth death.”
For clarity, the Amplified Bible gives this rendition.
“But every person is tempted when he is drawn away, enticed and baited by his own evil desire (lust, passions). Then the evil desire, when it has conceived, gives birth to sin, and sin, when it is fully matured, brings forth death.”
When James says “…but every person,” no one escapes temptation.
In order for you to be tempted you have to be “drawn away.”
How are we drawn away?
Notice…“enticed and baited by his own evil desire (lust, passions).
You see lust never seeks you. Lust is already in there unless it is dealt a death blow (see Colossians 3:5).
Romans chapter 7 is the tell all of how sin in the flesh operates.
In all of us, there is a preference for the kinds of sin that brings evil pleasure to our minds and bodies. However, these evil passions and desires must have conception in order to produce only one thing.
But let’s go back a bit.
What is it that is in your mind and flesh that you know that you would easily fall prey to? Just like fish or any predator. When you see something that is appealing to you, you will pursue it until you’ve captured it for consumption. Like all evil temptation, there is always a hook at the end of the bait.
It’s the same with humans. Same sex attractions, opposite sex attractions or attractions for both.
The definition for lust is “longing for that which is forbidden.”
When you are told that you cannot have a certain thing, sometimes it can add to the pursuit. The inquisitive pursuit.
A sort of curiosity that seeks out what it would be like to have it that way. It’s the same with sex. When a woman or a man walks by, your mind is inquisitive about what is not seen. What is seen is the appealing process that triggers the desire to further examine. Then it reengages into another mode. The conception process is figuring out how to get it and consume it.
According to Matthew 5:27-28, you already crossed the line in imagining what you will do when you get her or him. The lines one declares that it will not cross is just a speed bump. You will slow down but you will eventually cross it.
It is just a matter of time.
How do we overcome temptation?
We must look at the life of the Lord Jesus to answer this question. By looking at how He was able to resist the devil is textbook child of God living.
You go to a “concert” or a “praise and worship” conference, show, performance, or even a simple church service. The anticipation is incredible. The musicians and singers that are on the list are the hottest performers ever. You raise your hands and shout like you are in the greatest worldly stadiums in the world.
But for some reason, you come away feeling “funky.”
There is a spiritual and soul connection when it comes to music.
But it is not the music.
Some of the greatest songs are so powerful that you can’t deny that it came from the presence of the Lord but something else came with that music that took the righteous effect of the power of God away.
The right kind of music and holy musician and singer can take you into the presence of the Lord.
The wrong hearted preacher, musician, or singer can take you to their bedroom where they committed sexual immorality a few hours ago.
The Contaminated Rebellious Vessel
You see, God’s power passes through vessels.
Jesus said in Mark 5:30,
“And Jesus, immediately knowing in Himself that power had gone out of Him, turned around in the crowd and said, “Who touched My clothes.”
We all know that the clothes of Jesus carried power because the vessel that wore the clothes carried the power. I know that I am probably getting ahead of myself but a clean, sanctified vessel is the prerequisite for the flow of the Holy Spirit power.
Not emotional hype and talented musicians.
Do not misunderstand me. There are “anointed” vessels but there are also demonically anointed vessels of perversion that lurk in the open to prey on the unsuspecting, gullible, undisciplined child of God to keep them in their carnality.
Notice Mark 6:56.
“Wherever He entered, into villages, cities, or the country, they laid the sick in the marketplaces, and begged Him that they might just touch the hem of His garment. And as many as touched Him were made well.”
The power of God does abide in persons. We see this in the case of Jesus.
But an opposing power dwells in people that “perform” in our churches.
At night, before church, darkness makes its move upon countless “vessels.”
At night, the church plays the harlot with the prince of darkness and his demons. All sorts of lewdness and sexual immorality takes place before the people that come to church show up to assume leadership positions, music instruments, and other “church” functions.
Sometimes, when you walk into a church, the atmosphere is thick with dark spirits but we cannot understand why.
When a person comes in with a bad attitude, it is a good indication that something took place. A transaction that stained the heart. Sin. And we wonder why when people come to church one week, they seem fine, but next week, they keep their distance. These same persons that claim to be free of sexual sins speak evil of your walk in the Lord.
Some of them, you never hear from them ever again.
Until we see that many of those in leadership and in music have sinned before God. The one thing that perversion fears is discovery. As long as the mask is on and the prophets fail to discern and detect sin in the house, it appears that they are safe.
Exposure of Secret Sexual Sins is man’s greatest fear.
We fill the house when a “prophet” shows up to tell us how financially blessed we are but the cobwebs are heavy in places where a real prophet shows up and calls people’s sins out in the open. You do not have to worry about this happening because the majority of these “prophets” were never called and couldn’t prophesy the Word to themselves to save their own lives.
You can prophesy about someone else’s marriage but you haven’t had sex with your spouse in 9 months, but you had sex with yourself or you are a lesbian or bisexual yourself. Or worse. You molest young boys, you are a catamite, a NT TEMPLE PROSTITUTE, or you rape young girls in the basement of the church even while service is going on.
God doesn’t expose you just to embarrass you, although you will be when He has to expose your sin. But the church cannot act like the world and the hand of God is heavy upon those that abuse righteousness. The cleansing of the temple by the hand of the Lord today will make the scourging and overthrow of the temple money exchangers of Jesus look like a very lenient, merciful act.
He does it because people that are bent on bringing sin in His house is like putting dirty feet on a coffee table. It’s like walking in mud and you track the mud through the house that has white carpet. It’s like sticking your hand in raw sewage and you raise your hands to God in praise as if you haven’t sinned.
But we need light in this hour. To expose the smallest flaw in the light of His countenance so that we can be right before God.
But these same people say a quick prayer of repentance, thinking that they are straight with the Lord. Their fake repentance seemed to work because the service was very powerful, except that they already planned to sin again after service is over. Thus, the repentance was a failed and flawed attempt to appear “right.”
“Straighten Up And Fly Right” by Robbie Williams/Nat King Cole is a great title and many preachers have preached the title of this song but the church will not straighten up.
The spiritual funk that is in many churches has resulted in outright rebellion of leadership in the church against God. And the people in the pews have picked up the scent of rebellion and follow in the lifestyles of the sinful and rebellious.
Do these contaminated vessel pray to demon power? They do not have to. The sexual sins that they are involved in releases enough darkness that all they have to do is start playing, preaching or singing and the venom is released.
The emotional impact is so powerful, it makes preaching the Word easy but it make receiving truth difficult. There is a difference. When you are emotionally charged, you are not really paying attention to the truth of the Word. You are paying attention to the way you feel. The emotions get “spiritual” but it is a false spiritual because there is no real intention to hear the truth of the Word and conform to the image of Jesus.
Have you ever wondered why musicians leave when the Word goes forth?
Known, unconfessed sins and the willful disregard of the authority of God and His Word. The perfection of their gifts and talents easily masks their deep involvement with the sexual demons. This insures that they live in deception and this same deception envelopes their minds and their listeners and people can’t get free because they are under the spell of witchcraft.
Saul, the first king of Israel was told that…
“Rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft.”
When a person refuses to come out from their sin, they are in rebellion and the conjuring up of their demons surrounds them as they play, preach, or sing.
In Romans 8:5, Paul gives is the reason.
When a preacher, musician, singer gets up to “perform,” if they are not completely sold out to the Lord,“…those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh…”
“Because the carnal mind is enmity (hostile) against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be. So then, those who are in the flesh cannot please God.”
So if their minds are set on the things of the flesh, when they play, demonic spirits that rule them begin to come upon those who are unsuspecting. Emotions has a way of opening the reasoning to the degree that deception is easy. That’s why if the pastor, the musician, and the singers are not holy and disciplined, witchcraft can come in the atmosphere and perversion will be transferred to the people.
It’s called transference of spirits.
So if a person is engaging in sexual immorality, the music played, even though it sounds “holy,” the life is not holy.
When you wash a cup on the outside, the inside remains dirty, if it is not washed. And that’s exactly what we are dealing with. People come to church clean on the outside but contaminated with deception, deceit, and demonic perversion on the inside. And when we allow them to “perform” and preach, everyone drinks of that cup and everyone, if they are not watching their own lives, they can get contaminated.
You see, with musicians and singers, there has to be connection in order for music to sound right. Sex is the same way. That’s why when there is sexual immorality in the church, the connection is so strong that you sometimes cannot tell if sexual immorality is going on in the church until someone comes back pregnant, or they do not come back at all because the sin was so great and the conviction was too much to bear.
Or they show up anyway as if nothing happened and the sin continues until the church is in a full blown orgy of epic proportions.
And even as there is singing unto the Lord, sexual thoughts can take place in the minds of saints. And physical connections are sought to fulfill the tri-part being of man. That’s why it is important that where there is an expenditure there must be replenishment. You must understand that when you are ministering, you are releasing all that is within you to the service. After the expenditure, you are at your most vulnerable state.
It is there that you must get back in the presence of the Lord for you.
The anointing upon your life is not for you. It is for the people. The anointing or the well of water, springing into everlasting life is your own personal well that you drink in personal fellowship with the Lord.
In other words, you need to be ministered to. We expend so much that we do not know how to receive for ourselves. Learn to receive for yourself.
You need the Word of God and prayer for you because the enemy is looking for one moment of weakness and it is when you have expended spirit, soul, and body to minister to others.
It is at that moment where the devil also fills your mind because you are least on guard. He amplifies failures, flaws, mistakes. And if your mind is not on guard, the deceptive trick of the enemy is to get you to use the greatest pick me up in the mental and natural.
Sex. And of the illicit nature.
So, the next time you leave a “praise and worship” concert or when you leave you own church, and it felt like the presence of God was there, just wait a week or two to see if a lasting, eternal affect took place, or if sexual immorality just added another layer to the stronghold of demonic oppression.
Is the deliverance sticking or was it just a fake exercise exercised by known demonic activity. Did people get saved or did they recite a prayer, only to return to the world? Did people really sensed the presence of the Lord or was it the presence of demons that just made you “feel” good?
One of the gauges for change that I’ve noticed when I hear the Word was that it ministered to me in a known area where I intentionally resisted the Lord and the resistance no longer abides. I surrender to the anointing that came with the Word of God and the music carried the anointing to where surrender to the will of God is easy.
Then after several days, I watch myself to see if the change was real or was I fooling myself. Music carries an anointing from the Holy Spirit when the vessel is sanctified for the Master’s use. But music alone will not get the job done.
It takes a commitment to seek the face of God and stay in His presence. To wait for a feeling only invites the emotions a seat upon the throne to drive you in different directions. The Word of God must remain the anchor of your life so that regardless of where your emotions are, you stay grounded and settled.
How do we get the witchcraft out of the praise and worship?
Constantly preach holiness and proactively live in holiness. Be in hot pursuit of the living God and offer your gift to the Lord for His holy service. Consecrate yourself through prayer and fasting. Cut the connection of performance away from your repertoire and look to be a vessel of service unto the exclusive use of the Lord.
Your gift is not yours. It was given to you by God and it is irrevocable (see Romans 11:29). But it can be suspended when you fall into sin. Never mix the world with the Word. Never mix the anointing of the Holy Spirit with devils. Never cross God.
Until these things come as far as divine consecration and dedication unto the Lord, you are a witch on an organ. A magician in the pulpit. A singer influenced by devils.
