However, we see that the people of God see it coming and they are afraid to sound the alarm.
If you want the Head of the Church to remove the candlestick (put your light out) and the presence of the Lord is lifted, just say nothing.
If you want the church to be a shell, then go ahead, look the other way, and fail to sound the alarm.
Most churches have already died.
The “body” is attached to a respirator and the machine is pumping the blood, but the life or spirit in the body is already gone.
It’s just a shell.
You see people going into a building, singing the same songs, praying, preaching. But the Holy Spirit that inspires what we do has already departed.
If you see something, say and do something.
There are too many people that are in church that just sit by and say, “I’ll just pray about it.”
I didn’t say not to pray. Yes, pray about it, but tell somebody what you are seeing. More is at stake than you think.
Proverbs 23:26-28 says “My son, give me your heart, and let your eyes observe my ways. For a harlot is a deep pit, and a seductress is a narrow well. She also lies in wait as for a victim, and increases the unfaithful among men.”
One of many definitions of a seductress is that she is an outlandish, strange woman.
When it comes to sex, an immoral woman will take on the spirit of a seductress. It’s just not normal. They become something that they believe in the heart that a man desires. What they wear is a signal that it is strange but sometimes you do not have to wear certain things to signal your intention.
It all begins with attraction.
Attraction is defined as “the action or power of evoking interest, pleasure, or liking for someone or something:”
On the other side of the table is the attractiveness of a man evoking great power, charisma, and personality.
Women are attracted to that and so they become like honey and smooth as oil to capture such a man.
Depending on the purpose of attracting this kind of man, the seductive woman will pull no punches until she scores.
The pastor must always be on guard for these traps.
Notice the verse above and you will see that “a harlot is a deep pit.”
She intends to trap you so that you cannot get out. That’s what the “deep pit” signifies.
Notice the New Living Translation.
“A prostitute is a dangerous trap; a promiscuous woman is as dangerous as falling into a narrow well. She hides and waits like a robber, eager to make more men unfaithful.”
Even the narrow well is designed in the same way. You are wedged and you cannot escape her. Notice the other description. That she is a robber. What is it that she robs? Your fidelity to God, your wife if you are married, and your sanctification, integrity, sanctity to the call of God to be holy, and she robs the fear of God from you.
She is also “eager to make more men unfaithful.”
She is not satisfied that she captured one man. She loves to run up the score so that she proves to herself that she is valuable.
For the pastor, the seductress will operate without any thought. She doesn’t care if you are married or holy. She sets out to accomplish one goal. To pull you away from the Lord. We must remember that seductresses are in league with satan.
“Smite the shepherd and the sheep will scatter” is still in play. The seductress will even gain the confidence of the pastor’s wife so that it is easier to “make contact.” As long as the pastor’s wife doesn’t suspect anything, she will eventually make her move. It takes planning and a lot of cunning. If the wife has children, the seductress will make sure that the children like her too.
Invaluable. Indispensable. Faithful.
She has many ideas to set the trap because it’s all trial and error. The bait that works is the one that kills.
Seduction rarely happens in the instant. It is over time that the seductress will initiate the plan. She is patient and will persevere until she accomplish her goal.
She is a worshipper. She knows her Bible well enough to quote Scripture. She knows how to agree with you. She sometimes says the most and loudest “amens.”
Some honestly believe that this doesn’t happen. But it does.
Some seductresses are “sleeper cells.”
They awaken at the right moment. Before the pastor could see it coming, it is too late.
The seductress observes the interaction between the pastor and his wife and when they see a riff, they take advantage of a pastor’s weakness and vulnerability. She consoles and becomes the ear of support. The pastor confides in her and she gives him the nurturing that he needs, that she sees that the wife doesn’t give.
For the seductress, sex is a mind game first and then the end game. Intercourse.
Notice what Paul said in 1 Corinthians 6:16 from the NLT. “And don’t you realize that if a man joins himself to a prostitute, he becomes one body with her? For the Scriptures say, “The two are united into one.”
The immoral pastor is a smooth talker. In the same way that a woman uses words, like a snake, he uses the same methods.
In Psalm 55:20-21, the psalmist gives us insight into a man’s words being as smooth as butter. This is when a man makes peace or a covenant with another man but his intentions all along was to make war. You drop your guard and then he pulls out the dagger.
“He has put forth his hands against those who were at peace with him;
He has broken his covenant.
The words of his mouth were smoother than butter,
But war was in his heart;
His words were softer than oil,
Yet they were drawn swords.”
The same thing happens when a man want to have a woman in the church.
He wins her over with great swelling words to deceive her and then he has illegal sex with her. It is just like a dagger. The sad thing is that after the romp, what makes you think that he is going to remain faithful to you?
The pastor was first unfaithful to God.
Then he was unfaithful to his wife.
He uses his charm, charisma, and personality to have you sexually.
If you were really thinking, you would have blown his cover and exposed him. Because it is just a matter of time before he will walk out on you, if he hasn’t done so already.
When it comes to pastoral indiscretion, according to a book called “Betrayal Of Trust,” a pastor is either a predator or a wanderer.
A wanderer is more of a “one night stand” sexually immoral pastor.
Rarely do they divorce their wives and leave their families.
A predator is after many women.
The predator pastor is always looking for an opportunity to prey on more emotionally vulnerable women. Sadly, these emotionally unstable women are easy targets and they fall for the affection, attention, and smoother than butter words.
The only defense against a predator is that the alarm must be sounded. He must be exposed. Just like the seductress, she too, must be exposed. The alarm must be sounded. If you see these things on either side, the alarm must be sounded. Whether they hear it or not, when you see certain things that is not right, an ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure.
It may cost you, and they may very well ignore the alarm, but to avoid the appearance of evil, and to spare a wife and family the grief of the most destructive act of betrayal, do not be sorry to sound the alarm.
Just a note before I begin.
The past few weeks, since I suspended writing for a season, it was extremely trying for me. Faced with potential illness in me and my family, financial pressures, and other issues, were surrounding me and that left me with the best option. Seeking the face of God.
In the middle of all this, the devil tempted me on FB with scantily clad women in the ad section and right there, I knew that the enemy was trying to set the trap to tempt me to engage in Secret Sexual Sins. Porn and masturbation.
But as David said, “Yes, in the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil. For You are with me…”
We all know that the shadow of death means that something or someone is about to kill you. In order for a shadow to be cast, there must be light and the light shines on the person to cast that shadow. When David said, “For you are with me…” God clothed Himself in light (Psalm 104:2). It was His light that shined on the person trying to cause death.
No, it wasn’t a physical death threat in the natural made upon my life but when you are told to put on the armor of light, it’s not a beauty contest you are going to.
Each day is a fight to the death. Something has to die and someone has to live. Colossians 3:5 tells us to “mortify the deeds of the flesh.”
A really crucified life spares nothing.
The challenges that we face in this life can kill a person. It can kill a relationship in the Lord and it can destroy family cohesion. It is good sometimes to back away and assess what is going on and operate in the prudence and wisdom of the Holy Spirit.
Since the last time I left off, up to this point, the devil had nothing in me. I like that when Jesus said it in John 14:30. When you pursue the Lord, Paul wants us to “…..learn Christ.”
Paul also said that “I may be made conformable to His death.”
Paul also said that “he never apprehended Christ.” That is, Paul never fully grasped Christ. Paul was still searching after Him, to know Him in power of His resurrection being made conformable to His death.” Moses, when He was before the Lord, even though he’s seen the glory of the Lord before, wanted to see the glory of the Lord again.
This is how our pursuit of God must always be. No matter how many times we have prayer at prayer meeting, and no matter how many times we see the Word of God, a freshness comes from the presence of the Lord as Peter said, “…that times of refreshing may come forth from the presence of the Lord.”
To keep the enemy out of you, you must keep the Lord before you, in you, through you, never to let God leave out of you.
God was teaching me that I do not have to yield to the sins of the flesh when trying times are before us. Just because there is stuff going on, it doesn’t mean that I engage in sexual sins to pass the time. Too many of us forfeit the hand of God working on our behalf in things that we need God to move on. God never moves in spite of our sins.
Especially when we know better. So when there is a trying situation, it is the time to pause and really assess your relationship with the Lord. Never let circumstances dictate to you what you shouldn’t be doing. Always let the Word dictate to you how to behave before the presence of the Lord in trying times. I’m told by Pastor Roger Jamison that the devil will wait you out to see if you will change your mind. To see if your “NO” is still a very emphatic, ear piercing, holy “NO!”
The moral will of God must be so strong in you that before you say “no,” the devil flees, because the devil comes to steal the Word like a bird taking seeds (see Luke 8:11-15) The devil can’t stand the praise of God that’s behind your “NO!” When you say “no,” all he sees is the greater One on the inside of you during the 40 days that Jesus was tempted in the wilderness. Can you say, without a shadow of doubt….“It is written?
Victory over sin is not cheap and neither is the fight to stay free of sin. A price is aways to be paid.
So, in this 8th installment, (I hope I got it right that it’s number 8, right? lol),
Pastors fall into Secret Sexual Sins because they refuse to let the Word of God dictate how to live in situations. It took me a long while to learn how to never let the circumstances drive me to look for relief. Releasing sexual tension in sexual immorality as a means of making me feel better about things is the wrong way to go.
The Bible says, “Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He shall give you the desires of your heart.”
So instead of delighting in the flesh, I delight myself in the presence of God.
Many of us go through seasons of having desires and things do not pan out as planned. We get into situations that seem like it is impossible for God to do anything about it.
These are moments not to look to sin against God but to live in righteousness against the devil.
Lurking in the shadows behind the circumstances is the temptation to sin against God. You must resist him, as Peter said, stedfast in the faith. This is no time to be fooling around in the mud pen of sin.
We get into a waiting game and we want to get this waiting thing over with. Lo and behold, a hot beauty comes walking into our peripheral vision. The devil sometimes tempts us in the small things to get a reaction. How long you look at a man or woman and the intent of looking, determines why you are looking in the first place.
Temptation comes about because of the desires we have that must be subdued by prayer and fasting. Unbridled lust in the heart and mind is your personal play pen that must be dismantled (see 2 Corinthians 10:3-5). When we are struggling to keep ourselves, it’s because we have allowed the struggle to brew and stew. To get past the struggle is never easy. In fact, as long as we are in the tabernacle, we will continue to struggle. However, the intensity of the struggle has a thermostat attached to it. And the Lord has His hand on the situation to never allow temptation to go past a certain level.
1 Corinthians 10:13 tells us….“No temptation has taken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make a way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.”
When the Word doesn’t dwell in us richly in all wisdom (see Colossians 3:16a) for ourselves, that’s when the god of this world turn up the intensity of the issue or issues. That’s when we have to make a deliberate decision not to turn on something to watch that will open the door to sexual immorality. We have to make a deliberate decision not to touch ourselves sexually. We have to make a deliberate decision never to let situations get the best of us.
That’s what I’ve learned this time around. It was a great lesson. Major lesson. Now like Paul said, we must never get giddy about passing this test because if you are a veteran, you know that something else is coming. No rest. No breaks. You stay sharp by staying in prayer and the Word. And when prompted by the Holy Spirit, or should you do it on your own, be prepared to fast.
Flesh and the devil don’t like it but you have to do what you gotta do to make it through every temptation.
Never, under any circumstance, let the situation dictate to you what you should be doing. The Word governs and dictates the outcome.
When God looks at you, the outcome should never be in doubt.
Thanks to all of you who are still reading my previous blogs, words cannot express the gratitude.
And yes……..it is good to be back writing again, praise God.
As a man gets older, he will engage in porn featuring younger and younger women. Many will cross the line in child pornography. The numbers are increasing of child porn sites.
Child porn is interconnected with child kidnapping and children human trafficking.
The last statistic that I was aware of was that there are over 100,000 child porn websites, and growing.
We know that in the United States, this is illegal and anyone engaging in any form of child porn is subject to the scrutiny of law enforcement. There are sophisticated ways that males will watch and download child porn which is highly disgusting and destroys a child for life.
But that is another subject.
In this article, you will note a couple of things.
One, women exercise power over men with their flesh and femininity.
And they know it.
Proverbs 6:23-25 says….
“For the commandment is a lamp, and the law a light; reproofs of instruction are the way of life, to keep you from the evil woman, from the flattering tongue of a seductress. Do not lust after her beauty in your heart, nor let her allure you with her eyelids.”
This is talking about women that sexified their looks to attract a weak willed, undisciplined male.
The prostitute and the sexual immoral women wait for the simple or gullible males that have no control over their sex lives. Married men that experience marital problems and search for a body to have sex with will throw aside all discipline just to have an orgasm.
Two, mothers that dress their young 5 year olds are “sexying up” their child and it is not the kind of thing mothers should be doing with their child. Mothers are also engaging in sexual immorality and this is just another form of teaching and training their child to view sex as a means of employment and feminine power over men.
Additionally, we see that mothers are also selling their daughters for a variety of means, which at the top of the list is for money.
Whether it is for the drug habit, to pay bills, it really doesn’t matter. It is the job of the mother to protect her child. Not sell her child.
This is nothing new because many women get their way through college, get promotions, and live lavish lifestyles as a high priced escort, street prostitution, and strip joints all across America. They also do work at truck stops along the interstate highways.
No different than the old testament forms of idolatry where sex was a part of the hedonistic idolatry ritual of their times.
Nothing new that it is happening in the church where the sexual immoral women come to church to seduce undisciplined males, both single and married. The continuing drama of sexual immorality in the church is raging and many pastors are not taking control of their sex lives.
In this article, from the media is a very powerful and compelling story of females entering the dangerous house of porn. There are many young females that are giving themselves over to this sinful industry. In some cases, because the economic conditions of our times is squeezing many females towards giving up their bodies to uncaring, violent men, little do they know about what awaits them.
Drugs, alcohol, STDs including HIV/AIDS, rape, 16 hour shoots with different men with well below minimum wage pay. Having watched my share of sexual slavery, males that perform are vicious. The sex industry lets the females be the star of the show. On the side lines are other males waiting to get at the star. It is no more than gang rape.
Mothers, do you really want your daughter to be a part of this ungodly industry?
After you read this article, it’s the same in the church and in the world in dealing with porn.
Masturbation is the only reason why a male or female watch porn.
Porn is just another place where, in private, a person gets off without being involved in a relationship. This is another form of fantasy sex that the devil has billions of people in bondage.
In a 24 hour period, 2.1 billion, to be exact, will download Internet porn.
Can you trust your husband to tell you the truth? If you can’t find out why there is a disconnect. Why he is distant from you. When he doesn’t talk to you but could talk to everyone else. Wives, if he hasn’t touched you in weeks or months. Has a lot of FB female friends. And never gives you the time of day.
Porn is where he is. Masturbation is where he is. An adulterous affair is where he is.
So after reading the next article (link provided below), if you are sexually addicted, just go back to my home page to find out how to break free, in Jesus’ name. It’s time for you to get right with God first, and then get right in your relationship with your wife.
It’s code for a pastor that had illicit sex with someone.
So let’s not trip out about the language of moral failure. Whether it’s a church secretary, a Jezebel, or he took advantage of an emotionally unstable woman, it is the most egregious act of a person of professional trust.
The sad thing is that in some churches, these things are covered up, and swept under the unholy carpet of church. To save a minister, his marriage, and his ministry is more important than discovering hidden secrets.
Psalm 90:9 says,
“You have set our iniquities before You, our secret sins in the light of Your countenance.”
Discovery of a pastor’s sins doesn’t occur after moral failure is declared. You have to go into the secret lives of men to find that moral failure occurred a long time before the incident.
It is there that we find his unbridled lusts, evil desires, and expedient life.
Few of us realize that the anointing covers a person’s flaws and failures so well. Preachers that sin sexually count on the fact that they are undetected. This is a work of deception that causes a pastor to be more daring and take further risks to satisfy sexual desires.
On the other side of this are vulnerable women that are not disciplined enough to refuse the sexual advances of her pastor. Some sexually immoral women are opportunists too. Others get caught up in the moment of unbridled lusts themselves. Holy pastors have to be very careful. Now whether sexually immoral women come on assignment or they are emotionally unstable, it is important to point out that men do take advantage.
In the book, Betrayal Of Trust, the sexually motivated male pastor is either a wanderer or a predator.
Today, there are more predators than wanderers. Even so, there are female predators that hunt passively. Pastors use their professional position to lure women to the bedroom. Power is sometimes irresistible and it’s important to separate the power from the person of power. All pastoral power is delegated. Absolute power corrupts absolutely. When a pastor exercises too much power over a person’s life, there is no question that sex is to be, and will eventually be demanded.
When you give a pastor too much control, or when a pastor is “headstrong,” they will make sexual demands. It’s a matter of time. But thank God for the wisdom of God and the exposing power of God.
Conversations that turn a different way other than the Word of God is bound to be consumed in the mind, entertained in the heart, and acted upon.
Bathsheba was a classic example.
We do not know what would have happened if she would have resisted David’s advances. In all actuality, she could have refused to come to the door. David sent men to fetch her. What if she would have ignored the knock on the door? Or what if she would have somehow sent a message to her husband on the battlefield? She obviously kept her pregnancy hidden. Urriah may have slept on his porch. But what held back Bathsheba from opening the door to explain to her husband what happened? There is not enough evidence to assume that she sexually led David on as she was bathing and we do not know how many times David observed her lustfully in his heart.
Nonetheless, the act of adultery was one worthy of the death of both Bathsheba and David.
Leviticus 20:10 says…..
“The man who commits adultery with another man’s wife, he who commits adultery with his neighbor’s wife, the adulterer and the adulteress, shall surely be put to death.”
Yes. We didn’t think about that, did we?
Remember, David had five wives. There was no need for him to pursue another woman.
Moral failure/adultery/fornication has its origin in the private, hidden lives of men.
When a man fails to renew his mind, he will fill his mind with his lusts. In addition to his lusts, he will act out these lusts in self gratification, commonly called masturbation, or he will find a warm body.
The power of his thoughts compels him to lose judgment and seek a way to fulfill his fantasy. For the most part, most women know when pastors watch a woman, it’s a fault of the undisciplined pastor’s heart and mind.
Proverbs 6:23-25 says,
“For the commandment is a lamp, and the law a light; reproofs of instruction are the way of life, to keep you from the evil woman, from the flattering tongue of a seductress. Do not lust after her beauty in your heart, nor let her allure you with her eyelids.”
Prevention of moral failure begins with what is a pastor doing in his private moments.
If he is watching women, watching porn, and gratifying himself, or having self sex issues, this is where it all begins. The culmination of a moral failure is the act of adultery. When discovery of cheating on his wife or acting out sexually is now a known fact, it’s the tip of the iceberg. It’s the shallow ground. It’s the surface of something much bigger and deeper.
Solomon loved many women. According to 1 Kings 11:3, he had 700 wives and 300 concubines. 1000 women. Talk about sexual obsession. This was Solomon’s own version of porn.
Until you get to the heart of the problem, we will always seek to keep what really goes on, hidden and the problem will resurface many times over.
How to prevent moral failure?
Pastors that lead isolated lives are the most vulnerable. If he doesn’t have friends, he will live in sin. This is called accountability. Measurable accountability.
What is measurable accountability?
Effective accountability allows for the discovery of certain activities that are evident in the life of a person coming out of sexual addiction. Both, the person rendering an account and the person helping a person to be accountable allows a time to bring out of his heart what may be things that start a person down a path of sexual sins.
I believe that accountability must be without coercion, manipulation, and control. I also believe that accountability must be safe for a pastor. Too often, accountability brings fear but under the right conditions, healthy accountability with seasoned wisdom, should quell all fears.
When a pastor or any man is afraid to talk about the hidden parts of his life, he doesn’t want accountability to turn into a witch hunt. Sometimes this witch hunt chases a person away from accountability. Sometimes it’s not an indication that something is going on but chances are, it may very well be.
Pastors with Secret Sexual Sins are very good at concealing their hearts and mind though spiritual talk. Such spiritual talk is surface talk that never permits deeper questioning. Anger, bitterness, resentment, and other negative emotions are also used to prevent further questioning. Disappearing and running from places of accountability is another tactic of avoidance.
On the other hand, when a person is looking for someone, and it is constant, it’s best to leave the situation and not resume until they come out. And when they do, it is not the time to attack them and eat them alive. It is the time to let the person that is being held accountable to confess on his own. Otherwise, you will chase him away. One of the things that has to be done is that we must never let an accountability session turn into an “I got you, sucker” moment.
Moments have to be carefully picked so as not to chase them away. There may be times where nothing has to be said because they know it and you know it. Eventually, it will come out, if any thing. If nothing happened, just keep it moving. Even if the Spirit of God showed you. If they are in denial, it’s just a matter of time before conviction sets in. And even if they do not confess, we are not God. God uses every moment and opportunity to get a person to be right before Him and not before us.
Men that feel that you are fishing for dirt will run from places of accountability. However, there have to be tough questions asked. Especially when there is a avoidance issues. Or when there is questionable issues that are left unresolved.
When it comes to accountability, it should be a place where God and His Word is ministered in love. And the truth is always to be ministered in love. We must love a person enough to tell them the truth whether they want to hear it or not.
The purpose of discovery is to expose hidden trip wires and mechanisms that lead down a path where sin is easily engaged.
Self accountability never works. An isolated person cannot make up the rules of accountability. Therefore, pastors must seek independent verifiable people to help him through the process of accountability in a truthful, honest, manner.
Under the right conditions, moral failure can be prevented. Provided that the right rule and measure is in place.
“Confess your faults one to another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed.”
The thing that must also happen is that after a season of watching them grow, unless they are a basket case, there comes a time where they have to put everything they’ve learned together. In other words, they need to be trusted. If you see that they are still wet behind the ears, they will need your accountability calls. But when they have put it all together, then they have to walk out their salvation.
Like James says, “We all stumble in many things…” but the key is to watch them enough to encourage them, coach them, help them along, and guide them enough. They have to get to the point where they have to walk on their own with little to no supervision. Until then, if they are not ready for the next step, they must willingly yield to accountability.
Most institutions and circles agree to two years of walking free of sexual addictions, same and opposite sex attractions from lust and all before ministering to others.
In looking at the man of the tombs, we do not know how long he stayed with Jesus but eventually Jesus had to cut him loose. And this is the part that we must be prepared to do. Cut them loose and let them go. Eventually, they have to walk. Sometimes holding them in a place may be detrimental to their ability to trust the Scriptures for themselves, but sooner or later, it must happen.
Moral failure is preventable. And we must do everything we can to make sure that we keep the devil out of our lives, marriages, and ministries.
Very few will dare to delve pass the curtain or veil of secrecy. It is important for the Body of Christ not to bypass the weapons cache of the devil. As I watched the developments of Gulf War 2, I took note of the fact that US forces travelled faster and farther than any other force ever assembled.
The strategy was to use fast, light troops to get the job done. Great theory on paper but clearly the wrong time to implement a strategy in a place where complete theater dominance based on the “Powell Doctrine” should have been brought into play.
As a note, in the end of the Iraqi war called Gulf War 2, they repackaged the strategy as “a surge.”
Just in case you do not know the Powell Doctrine, basically, it is the use of overwhelming forces to quickly subdue an enemy. In comparison to light, and fast, prudence should have been used. As a result, overwhelming forces, in the end were used.
The commanders of the “light and fast” troops on the ground bypassed the weapons cache of the Iraqi forces. As the war developed, it was a tragic mistake that cost the lives of over 4000 Americans and scores of amputees. The enemy was able to use these weapons as IED or Improvised Explosive Devices.
There is no question that the Iranians and other enemy forces within Iraq brought more IED material into theater as the weapons cache were secured. But initially, this was not the case.
It’s common practice to either guard the cache or destroy weapons stockpiles so that any remaining enemy forces wouldn’t circle around and use them against the occupying forces.
Very few were destroyed.
In the movie, The Hurt Locker, in one scene in particular, the EOD specialist came across one wire. As he investigated further, he pulled up several wires. And at the end of these wires were 6 artillery shells. Normally, these artillery shells are shot out of cannons.
Instead, a sophisticated improvised weapon was created that upon a signal sent from a cell phone, as the convoy of trucks pass, the device would explode.
Such is the case in the Body of Christ.
The church is traveling in a convoy and the devil explodes a sexual immorailty improvised device.
The carnage continues because we refuse to destroy the weapons cache of sexual immorality in the church.
I’ve heard it before that sexual immorality among pastors is considered a normal event and that pastor’s wives should get over it.
It is so common in the church that saints do not know the difference between sin and righteousness. It is so common in the church that the global reach of homosexuality is almost accomplished. To the degree that if anyone of stature were to speak loudly against homosexuality, because of the compromised position of the church, the exercise is muted.
It is true that very few are courageous enough to admit that these sins are overwhelming the church and the efficacy of it has lost its potency.
At the root of every revealed scandal is a hidden scandal of Secret Sexual Sins.
Just as the children of Israel were about to do damage in the plains of Moab, the women came out and the men of Israel choose sexual immorality over territorial conquest to ensure Israel’s future security.
Make love, not war.
Recently, on gcmwatch.com I observed a video.
This video is probably one of the top 5 messages I’ve ever heard. I must say that Gay Christian Movement Watch was already speaking against the plans and strategies of the enemy to infiltrate into the church the acceptance of the homosexual lifestyle.
And where acceptance is rejected, it is labeled as hate language.
Already, we are seeing pastors and churches attacked because of a stand taken for God, and His righteous ways. Homosexuality is the current course the entire world is on. Pastors and churches can ill afford to be on the wrong side of the wrath of God that is to come. The persecution of the church cannot be compared to the wrath of God.
The global initiative of homosexuality is a clear and present danger to the church.
The enemy is in the wire and we need a danger close mission of the Holy Spirit to engulf the church in fire to burn out the enemy until that which is shaken remains.
Just in case you do not know what a danger close mission is. It is when the enemy has overrun your base and the only way to stop it is to bring friendly fire right on top of your base. And, yes, it means you may die, but what’s the difference.
The chances of survival is tipped to the forces requesting a danger close mission and this is exactly what we need. We need the fire of the Holy Spirit to come inside the church because we cannot let the enemy have us. God has a way to burn the enemy without burning us. But if you are not where you should be in God, you will die when a danger close mission is called in the church.
The backdrop of this acceptance of the vile, perverted, sin of homosexuality is hidden in the secret lives of pastors and churches that refuse to expose the hidden works of darkness called sexual immorality.
The sin of homosexuality is a class of sin by itself. It is the vilest sin of all mankind. It is the top predator of sin. To be associated with the devil on this level is the agenda of satan. As the church, as a whole, fails to live up to the standards of the Word of God, we see that its root is hidden in the secret lives of undisciplined pastors that fail to toe the line in righteousness and personal sexual integrity.
As a pastor, I was caught in the secrecy of sexual sins and I know first hand about what this is about. No need to further discuss it here except that if you haven’t heard about my evolvement, just go to blogtalkradio.com/prevailingword1 to catch up on what you may have missed.
The point is not about raising flesh up to start something.
The point is that if there is a lack of prominent ministers adequately and forcefully addressing this issue, from the devil’s perspective, more carnage is coming.
Beg to differ. Disagree. Condemn.
It’s your right.
But the church is not leaving the plains of Moab, the Mother of All Battles, until the secrecy comes to an end.
Psalm 90 and verse 8 says,
“You have set our iniquities before You, Our secret sins in the light of Your countenance.”
Secret sins of a sexual nature in a pastor is the same as when the EOD specialist pulled up the wires and exposed many bombs, pastors are doing the same with these sins. While in the movie the bombs did not explode, yet in the lives of pastors, these bombs exploded regularly.
Porn, self gratification, commonly called masturbation, prostitution, fornication, adultery, bisexuality, homosexuality, lesbianism, bestiality, and other lewd conduct hidden in the choir, music ministers, church musicians, pastors, ministers, church secretaries, and the dance ministry.
Time after time, because of Secret Sexual Sins, the church is bog down in a conflict that should have been over a long time ago. We can never get used to the fact that a defeated church is an ineffective church. The Lord Jesus didn’t shed His blood for the church to walk in defeat.
Until we get it, the devil will make sure that we get it.
Living defeated lives.
There are many pastors that live in The Hurt Locker of family, ministry, and secular work.
Unable to break away, the spiritual, emotional, and physical instability of pastors is an open invitation to the devil to seek and destroy by way of SIIED, Sexual Immorality Improvised Explosive Device the lives of pastors, their wives, the children, if any, and people in the church.
With a fine tooth comb and a slow approach, pastors need to take a step back and begin to have eyes on their lives to look for the following indicators that destroy pastors.
1. Lack of a Strong relationship with God.
Personal prayer and devotion in the Word goes a long way to keeping a solid relationship with the Lord. Prayer, fasting, and strict obedience to the Word.
2. Lack of a Strong relationship with the wives and children.
Personal time to enjoy the wife of your youth and opposed to looking for other women like prey. Spending time with your children is important because they need you more than your church needs you.
3. Lack of Strong Accountability Partners
People that can speak into your life on a moment’s notice to see what you have been up to. Such accountability must be non condemning, loving, but confrontational to ensure honest and integrity.
4. Lack of a Strong Men’s Fellowship
Where issues, ALL the issues are placed on the table. Nothing is left to chance.
Together, we can win but time is running short.
When it came to relapse in my life, it wasn’t the lustful eye that returned to me. I know that watching women lustfully is no different than porn. And yes, married men are more susceptible. Single men are sexually inquisitive. If you are not married, the chances of being lured into having a lustful eye increases greatly. That’s why Paul’s admonition to men and women is simple.
“It is better to marry than to burn.”
So, single males, stop waiting and stop playing the field. Go find a wife and get married.
Make a decision and get married.
Of course, find the right woman to marry, and ladies, be selective. Very selective. It’s tough finding low maintenance believers these days.
Just don’t marry to hop in bed. Marriage to one person is serious, so be very selective.
Lusting after women anywhere is called porn with clothes on or substitute porn.
After training my eyes to quickly look away, I was able to bridle that part according to Job 31:1. The mind quickly disengaged. In other words, any attempts to file that image for lustful purposes didn’t stand a chance according to 2 Corinthians 10:4-5.
The women walking the streets or pictures on the Newsstands on magazine covers is just covering what is behind the clothing. The imaginations of man goes beyond that and that’s where the sin is.
So there was nothing like that in me at the time of my relapse.
To cut to the chase, it was the habitual mechanics of masturbation.
This is the 1 Corinthians 9:27, Romans 6:14-15 part where relapse had the greatest opportunity against all my best efforts.
When you have been locked in battle against fulfilling fleshly desires, the flesh develops a routine called ritual. When you stop a habit forming ritual, the body goes into a fit.
So for the 3 years and six months that a sin filled sexual habit ceased, the urges and impulses went into a temper tantrum. I thought that I recognized it enough to subdue and have dominion but little by little, the urges and impulses increased in strength.
Mind you, I was praying every day. Reading the Word every day. Sharing with my wife and accountability group regularly. Even discussing where my urges and impulses were and what I was doing to employ 1 Corinthians 10:13.
The mind and body protested loud and clear. It reasoned that I stopped something that was almost as important as breathing air. The body will cry like a baby and demand why you stopped such an seemingly enjoyable past time.
That’s what was going on in my flesh. I thought that my spirit man was getting stronger. In fact, the Spirit of God said to me that I was waxing stronger.
But was I?
The Holy Spirit didn’t lie. I didn’t take heed according to 1 Corinthians 10:12.
When I declared my initial deliverance, I fought to maintain what was achieved. At the same time, there was a question in the back of my mind.
Will I fall?
It is important that you never dwell on this question because it’s a ploy of the mind and flesh to get you to resume bad habits. Remember, the devil only bring opportunities of temptation at your weakest moments to take advantage of every opportunity to pull you back into the same habits.
Another area of vulnerability was that I was out ministering too soon about this area of sexual immorality. Again, I accumulated a vast knowledge about sex and I wanted to tell the world what I’ve found out. For what purpose? To launch something that would promote who I was.
Obviously, you begin to think that no one else on the planet knows this stuff so you trump yourself as an expert. As I looked on the Internet, there are vast resources available to help people in the area of sexual addiction. They’ve been out there for years.
The oldest book that I have on my bookshelf about sexual addiction and sexual struggles of people in power is a book called “The Perils of Power.”
Pride and arrogance.
So, the best (worst) thing to do is to get discouraged. Discouragement set in and that’s the combination that the enemy was waiting on.
Relapse became an easy thing because I went back to attempting to heal the wounds of discouragement on my own terms.
So when I tried to tell the world, I end up getting more frustrated, and discouraged because I thought that by telling the world, opportunities to minister would open up for me to help free the Body of this scourge and would compel the church to clean it’s act up.
I like what Jesus said to the man of the tombs in Mark 5:19.
“Go home to your friends, and tell them what great things the Lord has done for you, and how He has had compassion on you.”
When you come out of sexual immorality, I thought that by telling others, I would be placing the spot light on my life in hopes that I would stay free (false notion on my part).
At all times, we are to look to the Savior for freedom and not what we are to do of ourselves (holding conferences, meetings, and ministering) to manufacture our freedom.
Sometimes when you have paid attention to your sexual needs, and you get delivered, you need something else to do to replace a way to satisfy needs of attention. Because when you are the focus of attention, it makes you feel good that you are helping others, when you are only trying to use it to pat yourself on the back.
It’s just another form of pride and arrogance.
So to prevent relapse the following Scriptures need to be employed.
I rededicated myself to employ these Scriptures. Never mind ministry. God has millions of others in this area. We do not need to know where they are and who they are, but they are there on assignment in hidden and exposed places with a powerful word of deliverance from sexual immorality.
God is not looking to sensationalize sexual deliverance. This is how movements become monuments. This is how targeted ministry becomes invaded with needless attachments of distraction that impede the move of the Holy Spirit.
In God’s way and time, He is doing exactly what He needs done outside of our eye sight.
The mechanics of masturbation works under the law of sin and death. Sin is pleasurable. The Lord Jesus speaks of “the pleasures of life” in Luke 8:14. Sin is pleasurable but never satisfying.
It is there where the law of sin and death has full power.
The law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus is connected to Romans 6:12-14.
“Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body, that you should obey it in its lusts. And do not present your members as instruments of unrighteousness to sin, but present yourselves to God as being alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God. For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace.”
Where Paul says, “…do not let sin reign in your mortal body…” to stay free from the law of sin and death, you must not let sin reign.
Romans 12:1 says,
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.”
Then 1 Corinthians 9:27 says,
“But I discipline my body and bring it into subjection, lest when I have preached to others, I myself should become disqualified.”
James 4:7-10 says,
“Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double- minded. Lament and mourn and weep! Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to gloom. Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up.”
The success begins with submission to God.
This is where we miss it the most because the attention and emphasis is placed on what we must do against the devil. This is the wrong place to start. The devil doesn’t mind if you start there because it is a place out of the order of God.
Submission to God is placing yourself under the Lordship of Jesus and His Word. There is tremendous success where believers fully submit to God. This is what the devil never counts on. Your will submitted to the will of God. Your emotions submitted to the will of God. Your attitude submitted to the will of God. Your urges and impulses submitted to the will of God.
You can’t masturbate if your mind is stayed on God. You can’t masturbate when you put your hands on the Bible before you put your hands on yourself. You can’t masturbate if you get out of bed and fall on your face before God in prayer.
Submission is not just a thought. It is an action.
What you do determines the next course of action. If you disengage the mind, you will disengage the hands. If you disengage the hands, and move from the place where it is a part of your habit forming ritual, you are adjusting the game plan to win against the devil, your mind, and your urges and impulses in your flesh.
There is no rush in submission except to move in haste not to sin.
Psalm 119:9-11 says,
“How shall a young man cleanse his way? By taking heed according to You Word. With my whole heart have I sought You; Oh, let me not wander from your commandments! Your Word I have hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against You.”
When you have something that’s dirty on your hands, you want to wash your hands quickly. When you need to stay clean or to clean things off from yourself, take the water of the Word and start washing.
Notice the adjustment. You adjust to stay clean or to get cleaned up.
Humility is the only way to stay clean.
Humility comes when we willingly admit our deep dark secrets to the Lord and to others that we are accountable to.
The proper order of accountability is the Lord, our spouse, and close, trusted friends that understand what you are going through.
Tough, confrontational, non condemning love must be administered.
To prevent relapse, you must employ every strategy to stay strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. You must escape every temptation. No matter what happens, this is a fight to the death. If you are in Christ you are already dead to the world.
Should you enter into relapse, you must note the process by which you entered relapse.
Why did it occur?
What did you see or thought that led to relapse?
How do you recover and keep yourself from falling the next time temptation comes?
Did you tell the Lord, your wife, and your those you are accountable to?
To prevent relapse, you must know your urges and impulses. You must enter into seasons of prayer and fasting. You must abide more in the presence of the Lord in prayer and the Word of God. You must starve all other outside influences that tend to have teasers prepared to get your mind off of prevention.
As in sports, good players and fighters make adjustments to win. If you fail to make adjustments to prevent relapse, you will develop a predictable pattern and routine that the enemy will exploit.
Prepare for chastisement. As the Bible tells us, chastisement is not pleasant.
Hebrews 12:11 says,
“Now no chastening seems to be joyful for the present, but painful; nevertheless, afterwards it yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it.”
The Lord will use godly people in the chastisement process.
The Lord loves you enough to tell you the truth about yourself and He understands what we are going through, and He is always there to help us in time of need.
Hebrews 4:15-16 says,
“For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.”
Romans 8:26 says,
“Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses.”
It is not easy. It is difficult because you have established a track record of staying clean and then you have fallen away.
One of the things you must do to recover is that you must not let guilt and resentment rule. And just because you experienced relapse, it is not over. Despondency will enter. Disappointment will enter. Discouragement will enter but they cannot remain.
God sees where you are and He is there to help you. Not kick you to the curb.
There are many reasons that relapse takes place but what we will do is identify the reasons and build a proper stronghold to prevent further relapse before we become too comfortable in sin.
He whom the Son sets free is free indeed. Where the Spirit of the Lord is there is liberty. Stand fast in the liberty wherewith Christ has made us free and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.
